Stress is one of the major causes of belly fat.
Chronic stress can influence the activity of LPL. LPL is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in the metabolism of triglycerides (fats) in the body. Elevated cortisol levels, which often occur during periods of stress, can lead to increased LPL activity in adipose tissue. This can result in more efficient uptake and storage of fatty acids in fat cells, particularly in the abdominal area, leading to belly fat.
