On the special directions of Honorable Madam Nadia Saquib, Secretary Health and Population Department Punjab, and Worthy Asif Ali Dogar, Deputy Commissioner Layyah, a visit to DHQ Hospital Layyah was conducted to assess the overall functioning of the hospital, quality of healthcare services, cleanliness, staff attendance, availability of essential medicines, functionality of medical equipment, and compliance with fire safety measures.

During the visit, different departments and service areas were inspected, including OPD, Emergency, Medical Wards, ICU/HDU, Gynecology Ward, Labor Room and other patient-care areas. The concerned medical and administrative staff briefed the visiting team regarding ongoing operational activities and service delivery.

Fire Safety Inspection

Fire safety arrangements were also inspected during the visit. The availability and accessibility of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, fire safety equipment and evacuation arrangements were reviewed. The hospital administration was directed to ensure that all fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment are functional, properly placed, clearly accessible and regularly inspected. Emergency exits and evacuation routes should remain unobstructed, and staff should be properly sensitized regarding emergency response and evacuation procedures.

Key Observations:

1. Cleanliness and overall hygiene standards in some areas require further improvement.
2. Functionality of medical equipment, particularly ICU equipment, should be ensured at all times.
3. Duty rosters should be rationalized according to workload and patient-care requirements.
4. Proper record keeping and timely updating of hospital records should be ensured.
5. Air-conditioning systems in patient-care areas should remain functional.
6. The Burn Unit should have a separate and properly implemented duty roster.
7. Adequate bed availability should be ensured according to patient load.

A meeting of the District Malnutrition Address Committee (DMAC) was held under the chairmanship of Honorable Shabir Ahmad Dogar, ADCG Layyah. The meeting was attended by the CEO DHA Layyah and representatives of concerned departments and stakeholders.

The meeting focused on reviewing the nutritional status of vulnerable populations, implementation of nutrition-related interventions, and strengthening inter-sectoral coordination to address malnutrition in the district.

Key Points Discussed

1. Review of the district nutrition situation and identification of areas and populations at higher risk of malnutrition.
2. Review of the implementation status of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions across the district.
3. Strengthening of Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) interventions, particularly promotion of exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding.
4. Improvement of ANC and PNC nutrition counselling for pregnant and lactating women.
5. Early identification, screening, referral, and management of malnourished children, particularly children suffering from wasting and severe acute malnutrition.
6. Strengthening of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) services and referral linkages between community and health facilities.
7. Emphasis on the availability and proper utilization of nutrition commodities, therapeutic foods, medicines, and essential supplies at relevant health facilities.
8. Strengthening coordination among Health, Population Welfare, Education, Social Welfare, Local Government, Livestock, Agriculture, and other relevant departments for addressing underlying causes of malnutrition.

Cheif Executive Officer, District Health Authority paid a visit to THQ Hospital

Dr. Shahid Riaz (CEO) took a detailed round of THQ Hospital and visited Registration &; Nursing Counter, OPDs, Special Clinics, Pharmacy, Lab, Wards and Emergency to ensure the availability and utilisations of the resources for the provision of quality of clinical, diagnostic, vaccination and pharmaceutical services in line with the vision of the Govt of Punjab.

Dr. Shahid Riaz (CEO) and Dr. Aqib Shahzad (MS) also reviewed the record management, data uploading and reporting mechanism on the dedicated Computerized Applications. Worthy Dignitary also assessed the cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment available in the hospital.

Dr. Shahid Riaz (CEO) along with Dr. Aqib Shahzad (MS) and Mr. Sohail Gujjar (Accountant) also interacted with the public & patients to take feedback on the quality of services offered to them. Worthy Dignitary also reviewed the attendance of the staff as per the duty roster.

_Under the administration and guidance of the Honorable Mr. Asif Ali Dogar, Deputy Commissioner Layyah, DHA Layyah is making concerted efforts to ensure the provision of quality healthcare delivery services to the community in accordance with departmental directions and standards._

In this regard, THQ Hospital Choubara and THQ Hospital Chowk Azam were visited to assess the provision of healthcare services, operational arrangements, and ongoing development work.

*1. THQ Hospital Choubara*

Dr. Muhammad Aqib, MS THQH, along with his team, accompanied the visit and briefed about the ongoing operational activities and service delivery arrangements.

- Ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff as per duty rosters.
- Improve cleanliness and hygiene standards across all departments.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines and supplies.
- Strengthen patient care and maintain proper record keeping.
- Ensure proper functioning of all available equipment and facilities.
- Expedite the ongoing revamping work and ensure quality of repair work.
- Maintain a clean and patient-friendly environment throughout the hospital.
- MS was directed to ensure strict compliance with departmental directions and regular monitoring of all service delivery indicators.

*2. THQ Hospital Chowk Azam*

Dr. Muhammad Arshad Bappi, MS THQH, along with his team, accompanied the visit and briefed about the ongoing hospital activities.

The Trauma Center construction work was inspected. It was observed that the pace of construction work was slow.

- The contractor was directed to immediately speed up the construction work and deploy adequate manpower and resources.
- Ensure that the construction work is completed within the stipulated timeline without compromising quality.

The visit was conducted along with Mr. Awais Chishti, ADC (HQ) Layyah, and Dr. Muzamil Kareem, District Coordinator.

Dr. Muhammad Hayyat, MS DHQH Layyah, DMS, and the concerned hospital team accompanied during the visit and briefed the visiting officers regarding ongoing operational activities, service delivery arrangements, and the overall functioning of the hospital.
