A two-year journey — and one salon visit that brought us back to the beginning.

Two years ago, this client came to us with subungual exostosis and a Pseudomonas bacterial infection.

It took us almost two years of consistent work to restore the nail plate and bring it to a much healthier and more aesthetic appearance.

Correction systems, professional care, home care, patience, regular follow-ups — step by step, we achieved a result we were happy with. The nail finally looked healthy, neat, and aesthetically beautiful.

And then… one visit to a beauty salon.

Unfortunately, that was enough to trigger a recurrence and compromise the result we had worked so long to achieve.

So, here we are again.

We have carefully cleaned the affected area, placed tamponades, and the next step will be to install a correction system again and guide the nail as it grows.

What are we working with here?

The skin has been repeatedly overworked and irritated, leaving its natural protective barrier compromised. Our first priority is to support the skin and help restore its natural balance.

The nail plates also show significant signs of mechanical and coating-related trauma. This is what nails can look like after repeated aggressive pedicures, excessive filing, and prolonged stress from previous gel coatings.

The lateral edges of the nails had been repeatedly cut and filed too deeply, contributing to excessive curvature and disrupting the natural growth pattern of the nail.

The nail plates are now noticeably thickened. This can develop as a protective response following previous trauma to the nail bed. Instead of becoming thinner, the nail begins to grow denser and more compact as the area responds to repeated stress.

This is also a reminder that a beautiful surface and that “perfect highlight” created with layers of gel do not always reflect what is happening underneath.

Right now, these nails need recovery and proper guidance — not another coating.

And importantly, there is space for them to grow.

We carefully cleaned and prepared the nail plates, removed everything that was no longer functional, and started working on restoring healthier conditions for natural nail growth.

As our first correction step, we installed a V-shaped titanium wire system to gently open the excessive curvature and gradually redirect the nail as it grows.

Once we achieve the necessary progress, we will move to a hook correction system for further guidance and stabilization of the growth pattern.

No aggressive filing.
No unnecessary coating.
No chasing a “perfect highlight” at the expense of nail health.
