Schools without drugs!

On the 15th of May the State Duma of the Russian Federation passed a bill on drug testing of pupils. In the document it’s spelled out the system of early detection of drug abuse, reasons and procedure for the conduct of testing.

Testing and examination will be passed in the presence of a written informed consent of pupils reached the age of 15 years or a parental/ legal representative’s consent if children are younger than 15 years.
The family psychologist of Rehab Family Sofia Shevyakova mads a comment on a passing this bill.
“Beyond all doubt this statute appeals for preservation of nation health. First of all it appears a chance to attract attention of parents, teachers and kindergartners to the problem of addiction epidemic and to do preventive maintenance and outreach and awareness-raising work. Many families are sure that they’ll never be faced with this problem. They don’t draw attention to alarm signals. Testing appeals for detecting those families which need a help first of all. The other question is to understand how qualitatively this assistance will be rendered. This assistance must include qualified psychological work with a problem family. As long as this system (as testing by itself as activity directed to people with positive take) isn’t well-functioning, criticism and scepticism towards passage of the bill is inevitable.
Beyond all doubt the very testing will be useful because the control will allow to reduce number of pupils who would take drugs “out of curiosity” or for “company's sake”.
