December 2020 I was pretty gutted I didn't have a chance to make any Christmas treats becoz I got covid for my birthday and was wiped out for over a month ✌🏻 so I thought this year (2021) I'll defo make up for it... But a lot of things got in the way leading me to not have a moment to spare or feel very festive at all. 👎🏻
But I had a handful of very special friends at work who kept me going through these last few difficult weeks, so I decided to whip up some quick thank-you cupcakes becoz everyone loves cake! 🧁

Trying something new

I get asked a lot about whether I make big cakes, the answer is: Yes, I can make the cake! But the decorating I haven't quite got the hang of! So what better way to learn something new than to practice.🤷🏼‍♀️ This was my first try at buttercream, it's definitely harder than Instagram bakers make it look! But since then I have bought some proper tools to hopefully get better with.
In the meantime I will be fattening myself & my family up with practice cakes 🐖🤣

I'm a very indecisive person, so when customers give me the freedom to choose decorations I usually have lots of ideas to sort through before I can choose! It's a lot of pressure to make sure you choose something nice that suits the theme of the occasion & not just choose something you'd like! Thought I'd try something new with this order. Made these little lemon slices from fondant. It was quite fiddly but it's always nice to be able to say you made your own decorations rather than just buying them. 😁

Hen do cupcakes with a classy theme! 💙✨ Navy buttercream to match the bridesmaid dresses! Came out great EVENTUALLY, 🤦🏼‍♀️ but it was incredibly hard to make!!! What is it with dark colours?! They're very tricky to get right, but after multiple attempts, I was very pleased with the final product 👍🏻😁

Lemon drizzle loaf cake

We recently hosted a "Come dine with me" themed dinner party in the "new" home I've lived in for 1 year now, but thanks to the pandemic that is hanging around, we haven't really had many opportunities to have our friends and family round. It was such a lovely evening & I can't wait to do it more often ☺️ Anyway back to the point... I made Jane's Patisserie lemon drizzle loaf cake for pudding & it did not disappoint! Such a great sponge recipe, perfect texture & ALL the lemony goodness! Would definitely recommend!!
