A bone chilling morning air at the crack of dawn in late January was oddly appropriate for the theme of today’s Creative Mornings and our Sit & Draw session.

KOORSOO (کورسو) is a Farsi term meaning “a faint glimmer of hope”, a fuel that can see us through the darkest of days, both local and global. To punctuate this theme, we brought the darkness by brushing the paper with strokes of black India Ink, fully knowing that the experiment might not work. The idea was to let the color shine through the gaps, symbolic of hope.

The speaker for the event was Ron Davis Álvarez, a Venezuelan conductor and music educator who has led masterclasses and lectures around the world, training teachers and developing orchestral programs for children and youth who are often forgotten or left at the margins of society; refugees and migrants. In 2024, he was named 5 top CNN Heroes of the year.

He spoke about his own journey with enthusiasm and a radiating joy, how finding his penchant for music as child in obscurity had driven him to a future of sharing that same spark with children around the globe.

This is our visual representation and artifact of the morning session, expressing that joy and hope.

“The Hero’s Journey”

On an early December morning, we arrived at Kokokaka with paper and oil pastels in tow for a session with the Computer Science & Engineering Department of Chalmers University.

This session was specifically tailored and designed for this group of researchers and professors, gamified around the concepts in Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey”. Each stage in the saga was designated a single color/hue for all participants to use during each timed interval.

Though the paper’s surface area was larger than our norm, the group proved quite capable of filling the entire paper within one hour. Our session served as the initial kickstart for a full day of meetings for the department. We were thrilled to be a part of it!

Sit & Draw x Panattoni Sweden

It was an honor to have our Sit & Draw session featured as the main activity for Panattoni Sweden’s year-end event.

Since the thrust of the company’s work is in logistics, we thought it might be fitting to gamify the session around movement, navigation, and teamwork in shipping.

We used Panattoni’s own set of company PR color swatches to guide the palette and holistic goals stated in their internal manual to frame the game play.

4 teams / sectors, working to move their shipments from the corners to the City Centre, while building roads, warehouses, and navigating the natural terrain and city authorities and their needs.

In the end, each team delivered (pun intended 😉)

Early morning Friday saw us laying out the color for Creative Mornings Gothenburg’s October event at More Alliance, which also happened to be the 9th anniversary for the GBG chapter’s initial kick-off in 2016, launched by after seeing how they were doing it in NYC.

Though the global theme for the event was “SOFT”, we chose to pick up on a theme from our local keynote speaker Maja Riesholm, touching on the idea of ROOTS, especially in relation to climate change.

Our initial sketch, invoking the idea of roots & branches, helped lay the ground for the entire piece to be formed. As always, it was a group effort. The color palette echoed the autumnal feel outside.

& Draw x UNWASTED
”Positive Impact” Session
Gunnebo Slott & Trädgårdar

Today, we made our way out to for a session with UNWASTED, a newly launched, enervative firm whose mission is to consult with businesses bending their arc toward sustainable and circular economies. Our Sit & Draw session was part of a day-long focus retreat offered at Gunnebo Slott. Their self-chosen theme for the day was “Positive Impact”.

In preparation for the theme, we made brushed the surface with India Ink. These marks were made to represent a contrast to the colors, symbols of resistance, visual hand holds, and branches from which the piece could flourish.

Over the hour spent at the table, colors flew and conversations flowed. From our vantage point, it felt like the theme was fully put into practice. We hope that their experience was the same.

This session marked our first foray at Gunnebo and the environment was perfect. It really felt like it had been waiting for us to arrive. Thanks to Nathalie Bödtker-Lund for coordinating and welcoming us in.

Creative Mornings + Sit & Draw

(A two part Sit & Draw)

Today, gathered in the cozy confines of More Alliance, with 9 creative agencies spanning 4 floors of the newly built modern brick at Masthamnsgatan 5 in GBG 🇸🇪.

Keynote speaker Tatiana Isidorsson Albino spoke about the work she does with and which helps people break though burnout and displacement. In regard to the theme, one thing she said really resonated, “Remember, flowers blossom at different times”, urging us to let go of anticipatory pressure and stress to burst forth and to trust that it will happen when the time is right. That’s what we took from it. It was a very good talk.

Beside our table of oil color was with and his stacks of Legos for attendees to build with and break the ice.

For us, we took a more literal path with the theme today, pre-fabbing two stencils of a leaf and blossom, which we traced to get things started. We limited our palette to medium hues of pinks, yellows, blues, and greens (we were thinking about Hawaiian 🌺 shirts).

Some of the attendees took to the page immediately, but the real draw of the day seemed to be the lush and inviting interior at More Alliance, and the breakfast digs ☕️ 🥐. This meant we weren’t able to fill the entire paper with color.

So after we packed up, we slyly decided to take advantage of the weather and hike up to the old fort, Skansens Kronan to set up shop there. Being that it’s one of the must see places for sightseeing in Gothenburg, surely there must be folks there who could jump to co-create and bring the whole piece home. And thus, thanks to marks from people from India to Germany, the BLOSSOM session was complete!!
