SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE EXTENDS LIFESPAN •
-
On this week’s Huberman Lab podcast out now my guest is quadruple board-certified MD, pulmonologist and sleep medicine expert Dr Roger Seheult. Here he is explaining the incredible data linking amount of sunlight exposure and lifespan.
-
Obviously, you don’t want a sunburn. But the data linking duration of sunlight exposure each day and lifespan are remarkable. Of course we have to take activity level levels into consideration, too etc. but the direct effects of sunlight on cellular and organ health are now understood to relate at least in part to the ability for a long wavelength light- (meaning the components of sunlight that you can’t see that reside within the infrared portion of the spectrum), penetrating deep into our body through our skin and improving mitochondrial function.
-
In other words, the mechanistic logic for these findings is becoming clearer. I suggest getting outside into sunlight for at least 30 minutes twice a day if you can and especially on overcast days. If you’re concerned about ultraviolet exposure, just know that the UV index is much lower when the sun is low in the sky, such as at the beginning and end of the day. You can check the UV index easily online as well.
-
The episode with Roger covers many more topics, including how to avoid getting sick, get over illnesses more quickly and the use of various zero cost tools for improving your metabolic health, energy production, & building and maintaining a healthy resilient immune system. He works in the intensive care unit of a hospital so he knows and uses these practices!

Kvinnor som solar dagligen lever längre 08/02/2025

Sola solarium och lev längre! ☀️ ❤️☀️

”För tidig död bland kvinnor som undviker solen är dubbelt så hög i jämförelse med dem som solar lagom dagligen. Både naturligt men också i solarium. Det visar en ny omfattande studie ifrån Karolinska”
