🌼 Swedish Midsummer – a time for celebration, tradition… and lots of food!

Tables are filled with traditional favourites like herring, new potatoes, sour cream, eggs, and of course… strawberry cake!

But if you’re working on weight management or simply want to maintain healthy habits during festive seasons, it can be helpful to plan ahead — and to use your portion tool as a guide!

👉 Here are a few tips from Mealsizer for a joyful and balanced Midsummer:

🍽 Bring out your Mealsizer – even at festive meals!
It helps you stay in control of portion sizes without giving up the foods you love. ✨ Just remember: fill the portions to the rim – not above!

🥦 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁):
Fill it with fresh asparagus, salad, radishes, tomatoes or grilled vegetables.

🥔 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲:
Perfect for fresh potatoes, slice of bread, or a piece of vegetable pie.

🐟 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲:
Fill it with herring, eggs, salmon, grilled chicken or tofu. Here you you can also put different kinds of sallad mixes, like”Gubbröra” or ”Skagenröra” (mayo or dairy based mixes with herring or seafood).

As long as you vary what you eat in every meal, it’s ok to put some more calorie rich foods in the measures on a festive occasion, as long as it’s not every day, and you limit your intake by for example portioning with Mealsizer. Then it will even out in the end.

🍞 What better way to end Whole Grain Week 🌾 than with a slice of this 𝗹𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗷𝘂𝗶𝗰𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆-𝘁𝗼-𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝘆𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱? It’s not just wholesome, it’s to die for… 😍

✨ Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
✔️ 3 dl rye flour (180 g / 1 ¼ cups)
✔️ 1.5 dl graham flour (90 g / ⅔ cup)
✔️ 1.5 dl oatmeal (60 g / ½ cup)
✔️ 1 dl crushed rye kernels (rågkross) (65 g / ⅓ cup)
✔️ 1 tsp bicarbonate (5 g)
✔️ 1 dl sunflower seeds (50 g / ⅓ cup)
✔️ 0.5 dl chia seeds (30 g / 2 tbsp)
✔️ 0.5 l Greek yoghurt or sour milk (500 ml / 2 cups)
✔️ 1 dl cottage cheese (100 g / ⅓ cup)
✔️ 1 egg 🥚
✔️ 1 dl sugar-free lingonberry jam (100 g / ⅓ cup)
✔️ 1 tsp salt (5 g)
✔️ 1 tsp each of ground fennel, anise, and caraway (or ½ packet of Santa Maria “Brödkryddor”)

How to make it:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F.
2️⃣ Mix dry ingredients, then add yoghurt/sour milk, cottage cheese, egg, and lingonberries.
3️⃣ Pour into a lined bread pan (approx. 2L) and bake at the bottom of the oven for 1.5 hours.
4️⃣ Let cool under kitchen towels for 2 hours before slicing.

Pair this with your favorite topping and ✨𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆✨ a slice or two as a snack or healthy breakfast during your Mealsizer day!

I dag är det . En viktig dag att uppmärksamma då hälften av vuxna svenskar 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 har övervikt eller obesitas. Du kanske känner någon som har problem med sin övervikt? Tipsa gärna om den uppdaterade "Instruktionsboken för dig som planerar att gå ned i vikt", som utifrån vetenskap ger handfast vägledning om hur man kan minska sin vikt - och bibehålla den över en lång tid. Här finns även kapitel om hur vården kan hjälpa till, bland att med läkemedel och kirurgi.

Detta gör författarna (bla. fantastiskt duktiga kliniska näringsfysiologen och dietisten Ingrid Larsson 🌟som i många år hjälp patienter på Sahlgrenska i Göteborg), genom att belysa ett antal aspekter av tillståndet som kan vara till stöd i mötet med patienter. Författarna tar också upp de nya medicinska terapier som tillkommit på senare år och ger en inblick i hur de kan användas i en behandlingplan.

Ingredients (for 4 scones):
4 dl (400 ml) Mealsizer protein porridge saffron
2 tsp (TL) baking powder
1/2 tsp (TL) salt
2 dl (200 g) of cottage cheese, kesella or sour milk
1 egg

Stir together, click out 4 equally large scones on baking paper and bake at 250 °C (480 °F) in approx. 12 minutes. Enjoy with e.g. cream cheese and a yummy marmalade or jam you have at home!
