This Christmas Season, our little elves at SHC have prepared a little something extra for you! The hands that provided treatments got busy putting together small hampers to spread some festive joy.

As part of our Christmas spirits, we gifted our clients these little thoughts along with well wishes of recovery.

We hope this Christmas season brings all TSW warriors an abundance of healing and smooth recovery in the year to come. SHC wishes all a very Merry Christmas πŸŽ„β€οΈ

If you are feeling guilty for not being able to be the best person for those around you today, don’t beat yourself up. Here’s a gentle reminder to take care of yourself first. Self-care isn’t selfish! You need this time to heal and rest before you can be there for someone else.

Last month, we had a wonderful IG Live chat with Michelle () and Sanalta (), two of our clients from Canada, who shared on the topic of Self-Confidence and TSW. They shared personal stories and wonderful insights with us, so good that we just had to repost and capture the best moments in another video!

Here are Michelle and Sanalta’s tips on:
- Living life to the fullest despite of TSW
- Opening up to friends and family
- Dealing with comments from others
- Facing feelings of self-consciousness
- Practising acceptance and self-love

May this video be a form of support and reminder for us to love and cherish ourselves 😊

Looking back I (still) can’t believe I got through this - and you will too! ⁣⁣

It was honestly chance that I stumbled onto the .sg page. Like everyone else, I had my doubts and was skeptical but I did my detective work and concluded that they would be able to help me progress further as I felt stuck in a dry, cracked, sore, flakey cycle. I wasn’t able to turn my neck to my shoulders or look straight up, sit and straighten out my limbs. Now I can - Feeling grateful everyday since! No more steroids and no more moisturizers 🚫 ⁣⁣

*2nd pic: WOOPS! Supposed to be 2019 not 2020 πŸ™ˆ This was a few days after I stopped moisturizing and began NMT. It doesn’t look pretty because moisturizing weakened my skin and caused me to ooze and NMT began to dry me out. This was my β€œadjustment period”. It’s a traumatizing experience to see your skin go through all these gross changes so fast and I understand when people freak out at the beginning of NMT (I was definitely one of them) but glad I did as I started to get some comfort and it helped prepare me for the treatment at SHC!*

Next up in our Ask The Warriors IGLive series are Gerald and Dean who will be sharing their respective TSW journeys. Gerald begin his TSW journey just 9 months ago, while Dean has been in TSW for 4-5 years.

We will be asking them the difference in their perspective on their journeys - going through TSW without guidance vs with guidance, going through Moisturiser Withdrawal vs without.

We also seldom hear much from male TSW Warriors - let’s hear their perspective and their experience of TSW. For guys going through TSW feeling alone, we hope that this brings you support and welcomes you into the TSW brotherhood! Tune in tomorrow night at 8pm! 😊

You may notice dark patches forming on your skin after wounds or lesions have healed. Is this normal? Will it ever go away? These are Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation patches which occur when the skin produces more melanin than usual when the skin is inflamed. Darker skin types are more prone to hyperpigmentation than lighter skin types.

If you notice them on your skin, do not worry! It is a naturally occurring process, and hyperpigmentation can fade away with time.

Watching a loved one go through TSW is a gut-wrenching and helpless feeling. We interviewed Gerald’s mother on how she felt watching Gerald’s skin deteriorate in the first month of his withdrawal. She elaborates on how difficult it is for caregivers as well - the confusion of what TSW is, the frustration at the amount of work she needed to do to care for Gerald, and touching moments of bonding between mother and son from overcoming the ordeal of TSW together.

Skin Health Centre hopes that this video would help caregivers to TSW warriors feel a little less alone; caregivers too, need reprieve from the care work they undertake, and our hope is for caregivers to receive the support they need as well.

We hope you have enjoyed the insightful sharing by Priscelia and Jing Rui last week! We gained a deeper understanding into the complex emotions of what TSW warriors go through and useful methods of coping and overcoming them.

Next up, we have Louise and Jasmine from the UK, who will be answering hot questions about their overseas client experience in Singapore. They will be sharing their tips for accommodation and their consultation and treatment experience. You will also get to ask them any questions you might be curious about!

We look forward to their IGLive tomorrow! 😊

Embarking on TSW is like sailing uncharted waters; you hope to reach the destination in sight, but the unknown storms and choppy seas ahead terrify you. The unknown is the scary part. You wonder: Will I ever heal? How long will it take?

But remember, nothing lasts forever. Your condition is not permanent, and you will heal. Do not lose sight of the island in the distance!

Tomorrow, our IGLive will be with Singaporean actress and . They will be touching on the important topic of mental health and support, sharing how they keep themselves positive and hopeful of their recovery, and how they seek support during their lowest moments.

We look forward to meeting everyone tomorrow at 8pm Singapore time!
