For years, the FMCG value proposition was relatively simple:
Give me more for less.
That's changing.
Consumers are still price-conscious, but value is increasingly being judged through a much wider lens.
Is it convenient?
Does it work?
Can I trust it?
Will I have to replace it?
Does it make my life easier?
That's an important distinction.
Because competing on price is easy to understand.
Competing on perceived value is much harder.

The GLP-1 Economy Is Reshaping Beauty & Wellness
GLP-1s aren't just changing weight management. They're creating new consumer needs across beauty, nutrition and wellness.
As GLP-1 adoption grows, brands are already responding to the new opportunities:
Hair & scalp health
Skin firmness & facial volume
Protein & targeted nutrition
Oral care & dry mouth
Muscle preservation & recovery
Personalized wellness & diagnostics
Aesthetic and clinical services
But the bigger shift may be what happens 12–24 months into the journey.
As consumers move from weight loss to maintenance, healthy aging and long-term wellness, beauty and healthcare are increasingly becoming one connected ecosystem.
For FMCG and beauty brands, the opportunity isn't simply to launch another “GLP-1 product.”
It's to understand the **new consumer needs created by changing health behaviors** — and build products, services and experiences around them.
The next beauty category may not look like beauty at all.

Some of the most important FMCG decisions don't happen on a trade-show floor.
They happen in retailer-supplier meetings.
And those meetings are changing.
The old conversation was heavily transactional:
Price.
Volume.
Margin.
Promotion.
The new conversation is increasingly about shared growth.
What is happening to the category?
What is the shopper doing?
Where are we losing velocity?
What should we launch?
How should inventory be planned?
Where can the supply chain improve?
That's essentially the thinking behind FMI's Annual Business Conference, which is built around private, pre-scheduled meetings between senior retailers, wholesalers and CPG suppliers.
The interesting shift is this:
The best supplier may no longer be the one offering the best price.
It may be the one bringing the best commercial intelligence to the table.
The future of FMCG selling is less about pitching products and more about solving retailer problems.

Nestlé Sells Mainstream Supplements Business for $1 Billion
Nestlé is reshaping its health & wellness portfolio — and betting on premiumization.
Nestlé has agreed to sell its mainstream Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements (VMS) business to private equity firm Yellow Wood Partners for $1 billion.
The deal includes seven brands — Nature’s Bounty, Osteo Bi-Flex, Ester-C, Gard, Nuun, Puritan’s Pride and Sisu — along with U.S. private-label supplements operations and dedicated manufacturing, packaging, warehousing and distribution assets.
The portfolio generated $1.2 billion in sales in 2025.
But Nestlé isn't walking away from supplements.
Instead, it is sharpening its focus on premium, science-led VMS brands, including Solgar and Pure Encapsulations.
For FMCG leaders, the strategic signal is clear:
Not every large brand needs to stay in the portfolio.
Scale doesn't always equal strategic fit.
Premiumization and science-backed positioning are becoming increasingly important.
Carve-outs can give established brands a new growth model.
The next question: Can dedicated ownership unlock more growth from brands that became too broad for a global portfolio?

AI Can Personalize Pet Care — But Trust Comes First
The future of pet food marketing may be highly personalized. But it shouldn't feel invasive.
Pet food brands are increasingly using AI to understand pet owners, personalize recommendations, anticipate purchasing needs and deliver more relevant content.
The opportunity is huge — but so is the trust challenge.
Consumers should understand what data is being collected, why AI is being used, and how their information influences recommendations.
The winning approach?
Use AI to remove friction.
Use humans to build relationships.
The question for brands is:
Will your AI make customers feel understood — or watched?

The pet-food aisle is starting to behave less like a single category and more like a portfolio of consumption occasions.
Breakfast.
Training.
Dental care.
Daily wellness.
Specific health needs.
That's important because occasion-based products create more opportunities for brands to become part of the pet owner's routine.
And that changes how manufacturers think about the category.
Not just:
"What formula should we sell?"
But:
"What moment are we solving for?"

Beauty has traditionally been treated as a creative industry.
But look at where the manufacturing ecosystem is heading.
More sophisticated formulations.
More technical products.
More claims.
More regulation.
More crossovers with dermatology, wellness and devices.
And that means manufacturing is becoming increasingly important to the product itself.
INTERPHEX Week Osaka is an interesting example because its ecosystem brings together pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, R&D, laboratory technologies and digital transformation, with INTERPHEX Osaka specifically covering pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturing and packaging.
Meanwhile, COSME Week Osaka brings together cosmetic ingredients, OEM/ODM services, formulation technologies, packaging and finished products.
The implication is significant.
Beauty innovation doesn't stop when the formula works in a lab.
It has to survive:
Scale.
Quality control.
Regulation.
Consistency.
Global distribution.
That is where the real competitive advantage can emerge.
A great formula is an innovation. A repeatable manufacturing process is a business.
