Planning a JB trip with young kids? 👀 SAVE THIS for your next Legoland weekend!

We recently spent a day around the Legoland / Eco Botanic / Puteri Cove area and discovered SO many kid-friendly places within about 10 minutes of each other.

And… unpopular opinion… Legoland Malaysia was our least favourite. 🫣😂

🥵 LEGOLAND — 2/5
The heat was BRUTAL and with a 93cm toddler, the ride options were pretty limited. Even the teacup ride had a 100cm height restriction?! 😭 Luna was NOT impressed.

For the ~$190 we paid for a family of 4, personally I wouldn’t return. Maybe the water park though… because at least we can all melt together. 😂

But these were our 5/5 finds:

🐱 Lumix Pets @ Eco Botanic
Cute cats + a little play area + surprisingly no fee when we visited?! The cats were super gentle and playful.

⛏️ Little Diggers & Slimeland @ Eco Botanic
A HUGE sandpit + diggers + play structure = 2 HOURS of entertainment.
About S$24 for 2 kids for an unlimited day pass.
Proof once again that kids do not need fancy things. 😂

🍲 5PM Lalapot @ Eco Botanic
Family-friendly hotpot with 鸳鸯锅 — tomato soup for the kids, lala soup for the adults. Fresh ingredients + SO tasty.

🧪 Omomo Nook
Messy play. Slime. Sensory play.
Need I say more? 😂
The kids were obsessed.

🏨 Dao by Dorsett Puteri Cove
We paid around S$120 for 1 night during peak school holidays INCLUDING breakfast 🫢 Then the kids spotted the jacuzzi pool and our planned relaxing bath immediately became a night swim. 😂

If you’re planning a Legoland JB trip with young children, I’d honestly build your itinerary around these places too rather than spending the whole day at Legoland.

Mum wanted guinea pigs… now the WHOLE family is obsessed 😂🐹

Meet the newest members of our family — Capy & Mew! 🥹

I was the one who wanted guinea pigs but somehow the kids became even more obsessed than I am 😂

Lucian wrote an ENTIRE list of possible names before we finally decided on Capy & Mew together, while Luna has appointed herself as their official treat dispenser + cuddle supervisor. 🩷

And then there’s Ollie… 🐶
Our Shetland sheepdog who has decided these two are his babies and spends his time sitting beside their cage watching them. 😂

Meanwhile, we’ve apparently given our guinea pigs a full aesthetic piggy mansion because why should they live a basic life when they can have better interior design than us? 😜🏡🐹

Still getting used to having two new little personalities around, but watching the kids bond with them has been SO sweet. 🥹💕

I think I found the dream activity for parents with young kids — messy play at Omomo Nook 🥹✨

The kids get 1.5 HOURS to go absolutely WILD with slime, bubbles, paint and all sorts of sensory play… while we parents can literally just sit back and relax. 😭😂

We went during Slime Lab Week and the kids got to make their own slime AND play with slime bubbles. 🫧💚

And apparently there are different themes too —

…and more!

BUT our kids’ absolute favourite?

The amount of screaming + laughing = 😂😂😂

🍂🦌 Nara vibes… but make it Nanjing! 🇨🇳

If you’re heading to Nanjing in autumn/winter, SAVE THIS SPOT because this place is seriously underrated 😍

📍 Yanzique Lake 燕雀湖 + Changsheng Deer Garden 长生鹿苑

We came in December and the autumn colours were still SO dreamy 🍁 The lake was covered with gorgeous red-orange metasequoia trees reflecting off the water, with swans chilling in the background… honestly, every angle looked like a postcard. 🦢✨

And then… THE DEER 🦌🥹

It totally gave us Nara, Japan vibes, except there were way fewer people and these deer were SO gentle! They weren’t aggressive or constantly chasing you for food — even when we were holding their feed, they were surprisingly calm and respectful. 🥹❤️

The kids absolutely loved being able to get up close, feed them and interact with them without feeling overwhelmed.

💡 And mums, this one is for you… 😂
There are photographers around the deer park who can take photos for you for a pretty affordable price — PERFECT if you’re travelling with a husband who somehow forgets how to take a decent photo of you AND the kids. 😝📸

📍 How to get there:
🚇 Take Metro Line 2 → Mùxuyuan 苜蓿园 Station Exit 1
Then navigate to Ming Xiaoling Gate 3 明孝陵3号门.

🍁 At the entrance, you can already get those beautiful Yanzique Lake views with the metasequoia reflections + swans.

🦌 Walk towards the left of Gate 3 and you’ll find Changsheng Deer Garden 长生鹿苑.

⏰ Deer Garden: 8:30am–4:30pm
🎟️ Deer feeding available, photographers are stationed right there at the deer park, they will probably approach you as you enter so no prior bookings needed

Definitely adding this to our list of family-friendly hidden gems in Nanjing! ❤️

Magical 3 years 🩷

✨ POV: You thought this was photographed during golden hour... but it was actually 10PM. 🤯🌙

The magic of a professional Chinese photography studio still blows my mind.

Every ray of "sunlight" you see? Studio lighting. That dreamy golden glow streaming through the windows? Carefully created indoors. The soft, romantic atmosphere? Pure artistry. ✨

I honestly couldn't believe we started this shoot around 9–10pm, yet the final photos look like they were taken during the most perfect golden hour.

The hair and makeup artists absolutely transformed me, and my photographer deserves an award for patiently directing every pose (because let's be honest... I never know what to do with my hands 😂). They made the entire experience feel effortless, and the results speak for themselves.

China has seriously taken studio photography to another level, and this is definitely one of my favourite memories from Hangzhou. If you're visiting, I'd 100% recommend adding a photoshoot to your itinerary—you'll leave with memories that last forever. 🤍

🚨 PSA for Singapore families: You DON'T need to fly for hours to find crystal-clear beaches and soft white sand! 🤯🏝️

This weekend, we escaped to Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan, and it honestly felt like we'd travelled much further than just a short 1 hour ferry ride from Singapore. ✨

Daddy was there for work (Leon was invited to emcee an event 🎤), so the kids and I turned it into the perfect mini beach holiday!

Our favourite part? The beautiful beach was only a 5-minute walk from our room. The kids spent ages collecting seashells 🐚, and we brought them back for a fun little beach craft session. Sometimes it's the simplest moments that become the best holiday memories. 🤍

we escaped to Anji for the final stop of our girls trip…

✔ serene bamboo forest stay
✔ private hot spring with mountain view
✔ comfort food heaven
✔ chaotic amusement park energy
✔ fireworks that gave emotional damage

And the ticket was only 28SGD (150 RMB)???
China really said: maximum experience, minimum price.
Already planning to come back with my kids. 🥹
