Today was one of those ordinary yet extraordinary days that somehow became very precious. ๐ค
For the very first time, my small one and I commuted to school together by public transport - train, then bus, together with kor kor... just the 3 of us.
And as it happened, today was also the schoolโs crochet circle for the alumni mummies.
So there I wasโฆ sitting with the mummies, crocheting, chatting and enjoying a little piece of something I love, while my little boy was happily going about his school day.
But the sweetest part came when he saw me.
โMummy, when can you come again?โ
Then he added, almost hopefully, โI hope they have crochet every weekโฆ or every monthโฆ so I can see you at school.โ
My mummy heart. ๐ฅน
Itโs funny how children can say something so simple and completely disarm you.
He even bought me his favourite lychee drink from school.
โMummy, you know every time I drink this, it makes me very full. Itโs my favourite.โ
And then he brought one for me because he saw me.
Such a little thing.
But to a mummy, it is everything.
As mothers, we spend so much of our time getting them ready, sending them to school, rushing to work, preparing meals, managing schedules and trying to build a life around them.
Sometimes we wonder whether they even notice.
Today reminded me that they do.
They notice when Mummy comes to school.
They notice when Mummy is part of their world.
They notice when Mummy takes an interest in the things happening around them.
And perhaps these are the little moments that quietly build the bond we hope will last long after they have grown up.
Today, I wasn't there as a realtor.
I wasn't there as a professional.
I was simply Mummy.
And apparently, that was enough to make my little boy very happy. โค๏ธ
Maybe that's what motherhood is really about - showing up, whenever we can, in the little corners of their world.
And today, my heart was very full.
