“It is with a heavy heart that we have to find a new home for our kitty Mew. We adopted him at four months old and planned to keep him forever, but our older cat Polly will not accept him. He is almost two years old now and is a wonderful, loving cat with a lot of character. We are pretty sure he is a pure bread Lynx Pointe Siamese. He is equal parts snuggly and playful. He is a purr machine who loves to give kisses, watch tv (especially kitten videos on youtube), and snuggle under blankets. However, he still has some kitten play in him and loves to bat at water out of the faucet, cackle at the birds out the windows, and has never met a string toy he didn't love. He will do best as an only kitty with older children (our daughter was 11 when we adopted him). He has been fully vaccinated and tested negative for FeLV, FIV, and toxoplasmosis.”

This has been by far the best transformation video on embracing grey hair and enjoying the journey. I have been a Hairstylist for almost 30 years, with 22 of those years spent working internationally with a diverse range of clients from around the world. I see, on average, 6 to 8 people a day, 4 days a week. That's 24 to 32 people a week, mainly ladies. Six out of eight and four out of six will have concerns with either getting or having grey hair, and of course, aging. Which makes the #1 topic and most asked question in my chair, with the most common issues being "Grey Hair and Aging." When my clients ask me, 'How can I grow out my grey hair?' I always say, grow it out. It's that simple.
The more you visit us, the more we will use our magic wand to blend or mask the issue. This means it'll take longer to grow it out, and you'll save less money and time. But! "What about bleaching my hair so that I can blend in my dark natural and colored hair to look grey?" Yes! It can be done, but you'll still need to come back in every two to four weeks to maintain the tone. Because what evey is ain't naturally white hair will start to turn slightly yellow and orange based on the result of the bleaching process, so you'll need to tone it until it grows out or is cut short enough to look good. But even then, you are still coloring your hair regardless.

The point of growing it out is the journey you go through. Having grey hair doesn't make you old; it tells the world I have lived, I have survived, and I love myself. Having grey hair doesn't make anyone old; having a fear of having grey hair does. When those roots start to show, you look in the mirror and remind yourself, "I am old." It's then that you start questioning your age and telling yourself, "I am old." This journey is about embracing who you are and loving yourself enough to face the real you —a young, vibrant woman with grey hair.

And Ladies, support each other. If your female friend is going grey, respect her choice, show some love and support, and avoid negative comments like, "I could never do that." It's not your turn to tell your story; if you can't say something nice, then shut the hell up. Those kinds of comments are not being respectful; your fear is your issue, and that moment is not about you; it's about your friend who is confiding in you to be supportive. If it was me and my friend came to me and said; I'm tired of coloring my hair I want to imbrace my natural, I would say: "Hey good on you, and look if you decide to go back to coloring your hair, then at least you tried right, and I'll support you either way." That's being a friend.

For all those ladies out there who've decided to go grey and want to share that with their friends, but your friends aren't supportive, my final advice is to get better friends! At the end of the day, as I tell my clients, if you've decided I've tried it, it's not me. We can always go back to coloring your hair, but at least we can choose a better, softer, gentler process. This way, if you change your mind and want to try going grey again, it will be easier to give it another try.

My final note: love yourself, respect yourself, don't stand in front of a mirror and say negative s**t about yourself. We all deserve to create ourselves and live our best lives. Life is not about finding happiness; it's about creating it at any age.
