Last night felt like stepping into a glowing dream of Bangkok 🌿✨ I had the pleasure of attending the Parfums Dusita x Mandarin Oriental Bangkok launch of Light of Bangkok, created to celebrate the hotel’s 150th anniversary.

This scent feels like my beloved city at golden hour, fresh, luminous and elegantly luxurious. Sparkling lemongrass and bergamot rise like morning light over the Chao Phraya river, softened by clary sage and a whisper of powdery orris butter. The heart blooms with jasmine and ylang-ylang, so unmistakably Thai, before settling into a serene base of sandalwood, vetiver, and musk, warm, airy, and endlessly calming and soothing.

Light of Bangkok is not just a perfume, it’s a tribute to heritage, hospitality, and the timeless soul of this city.

Rose des Vents คือกุหลาบที่ไม่ใส่กระโปรงฟู ไม่โปรยกลิตเตอร์ ไม่ตั้งใจจะหวานเอาใจใคร มันเป็นกุหลาบที่ยืนอยู่ริมหน้าต่างห้อง Suite ใน Paris ตอนเช้า แสงอ่อน กระจกใส ลมพัดเบาๆ แล้วคุณรู้เลยว่า คนฉีดไม่ต้องพยายาม กลิ่นทำหน้าที่ของมันเอง

กลิ่นเปิดมาด้วยความใสสะอาดแต่เป็นความใสที่ไม่เด็กด้วย peach ที่ไม่หวานฉ่ำแบบขนม แต่เป็นลูกพีชเนื้อเนียนๆ กับ blackcurrant ที่ให้ความเปรี้ยวเขียวบางๆ แทบจับไม่ได้ว่าคือผลไม้ มันทำหน้าที่เหมือนแสงแดดตอนเช้า ส่องให้กุหลาบดูโปร่งขึ้น ไม่หนัก ไม่ทึบ ช่วง 5–10 นาทีแรกจะรู้สึกสะอาด สดใส แต่ไม่ซ่า ไม่ citrus จ๋า เป็นความ bright แบบ soft focus แบบโปร่ง ไม่หวานเลี่ยน ให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนผิวที่เพิ่งอาบน้ำเสร็จ ผ้าขาวสะอาด และแสงแดดอ่อนยามเช้า มันไม่ได้เปรี้ยวจัด แต่มีความ juicy บางๆ ที่ทำให้กุหลาบกำลังจะปรากฏตัวอย่างนุ่มนวล

จนมาถึง middle note กุหลาบสามมิติ นี่คือจุดที่กลิ่นเริ่มนิ่งลงและเผยความ “แพง” กุหลาบจาก Grasse, Turkey และ Bulgaria ผสมกันจนเกิด texture ที่ละมุน ไม่เขียว ไม่ดิบ ไม่ powdery แบบคุณป้า แต่เป็น rose ที่เหมือนผิวผู้หญิงที่ดูแลตัวเองดี
มี Irish แทรกเบาๆ ทำให้กลิ่นมีความครีมมี่นิดๆ คล้ายแป้งเนื้อดี แต่ไม่ทำให้แก่ ตรงนี้แหละที่ทำให้ Rose des Vents ต่างจาก rose ทั่วไป — มันดู refined มากกว่าจะหวาน

ช่วง dry down จะเหลือ white musk กับ cedarwood บางๆ ให้ความรู้สึก clean, skin-scent และอบอุ่นแบบผ้าลินินสะอาด กลิ่นจะติดผิวใกล้ๆ ไม่ฟุ้งไกล แต่มีเสน่ห์เวลาคนเข้าใกล้
ความทนบนผิวประมาณ 5–7 ชั่วโมง (ใกล้ตัว) บนเสื้อจะอยู่ได้นานกว่า บนกระดาษจะดู floral ชัดกว่า แต่บนผิว กลิ่นจะนวลขึ้นและติด musk มากขึ้น ทำให้รู้สึกเหมือน “นี่คือกลิ่นตัวที่ดีที่สุดเวอร์ชันหนึ่งของคุณ” ไม่ใช่น้ำหอมที่ประกาศตัว
ถ้าผิวแห้ง กลิ่นจะออก airy และสะอาด
ถ้าผิวอุ่น/ผิวมัน จะดึงความ rose และ musk ให้นุ่มและเซ็กซี่ขึ้นอีกระดับ

Feeling ได้ว่าถ้าผู้หญิงคนไหนฉีดน้ำหอมกลิ่นนี้จะเป็น ผู้หญิงที่แต่งตัวเรียบ แต่รายละเอียดดี เช่น blazer โทนครีม เชิ้ตขาว กางเกง tailored และคนที่ไม่ชอบกลิ่นหวานจัด ไม่อยากให้ใครทักว่า “ฉีดอะไรแรงจัง” และคนที่รัก understated elegance ผู้ชายใช้ได้ ถ้าเป็นผู้ชาย clean-cut ชอบเสื้อเชิ้ต crisp หรือสไตล์ minimal Scandinavian… โอ้ว เลิศ!!!!

Our work and our joy is to pass along the gift and to trust that what we put out into the universe will always come back.” A favorite passage from Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass made me reflect deeply on how much perfumes are connecting our body and mind to nature and back to the way of the ancient world.

Reading this passage again reminded me of my beloved scent Fidji. Fidji is one of those gifts, passed on from my mother, whom also loves this scent dearly. For decades, the bottles laid undisturbed quietly in her perfume cabinet until she passed them on to me. Green, luminous, alive with living breath of Hyacinth and the movement of Galbanum. These bottles are perfume relics that survived through the cultural shifts, Cold War, Vietnam War, Civil Rights Movement, Counterculture, Music Revolution and the Moon Landing in the late 60s.

It’s a scent that doesn’t stay still but travels through time, touches others and becomes part of a remarkable shared journey. Wearing it feels less like an extravagant possession and more like a learning experience and shared connection in something intimate, generous, beautiful, and fleeting. Ownership is temporary, experience is forever lasting.

Perfume, like kindness, only truly lives when it is passed on. The good intentions that you put out there in to the universe matters. It radiates, affects other people around you and they do come back. Everything is a gift (even perfumes), it has something to teach us. Fidgi makes me feel joyous, comforted, lifted and so close to my mother. And now I must return the gift back to the universe.

Yesterday, I joined a perfume walk at the Bangkok Design Week 2026 (29 January - 8 February) in Charoenkrung Soi 30 with Scents of Memento. First stop was Perfumers' Journey to sniff their newly launch creation "A La Mod", a unique reinterpretation of the fougère genre by Sakul Pawasuttikul.

Inspired by a special collaboration between Perfumers' Journey and BWILD ISAN, the concept celebrates collective effort in nature, inspired by weaver ants using mango leaves to build their nests. With notes of Mango Leaf, Ant Accord, Lavender, Oakmoss, and Musk. A La Mod feels green, fresh, and quietly profound. An olfactory story of nature’s interconnected craftsmanship.

I was lucky enough to sample the not yet launched "Ahsraya" by Khun Eak. This is the most comforting gourmand pandan / warm rice scent ever. Needless to say, I feel in love with both.

Then we stopped by the Pratintip Artist perfume perfume perfume booth to experience their newly launched Fablelist Marnya. A clean, elegant and soapy white floral that feels effortlessly graceful. After that, we explored Fruitarian’s single-note scents, sampling their base materials and floral soliflores, which was such a fascinating way to understand raw ingredients and scent structures. My favorite was their Pila Tuberose.

In between fragrance stops, we wandered into an antique art store, admired beautiful design pieces, and enjoyed some delicious food along the way. Grateful for the wonderful fragrance community that brings people together through curiosity, creativity, and scent.

The passage from last year’s favorite movie Train Dream, feels like an achingly beautiful, quiet and half forgotten life. The film moves the way memory does. Slow, fragmented and lost in longing. Wide and wild landscapes of nature, the rhythm of labor and the aching solitude of life.

Scents of Memento and I was able to visit Nai Lert Flower & Garden Art Fair at the Nai Lert Park Heritage Home and smelled these 2 fragrances on auction:

🌸 Vassana x Saisalang Scent Surrounding Asuphamala, Till my last breath. Inspired by Ramakien, a Thai adaptation of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. Flowers scattered in farewell, drifting down to cover the earth. Each petal soaked with unspoken sorrow. The scent captures the final moments in the sky with their final breath between Kesorn Malai and Mangkorn Kan.

🌸 Vassana x SIVA_since.2023 Asuphadara, Before the Star Falls. Also inspired by a moving moment in Ramakien, the scent captures the exhilaration and pure joy shared by Mangkornkan and Kesornmala at their reunion, unaware it will be their last.

These 2 scents embody fleeting beauty touched by tragedy. To create a perfume is to honor the artistry and story behind it. Each fragrance carries a story, distant memory and emotion preserved in time.
