More than ten years ago (about 2015), I was sitting in a small restaurant just in front of the Spa when I noticed a man posting an advertisement — the land was for sale. But then he said something that stayed with me forever:
“I feel sad… this Tamarind Tree is more than 150 years old. For Buddhists, cutting it would bring bad karma.”

I looked at the Tree — tall, peaceful, timeless — and felt the same sadness. I told him,
“I don’t want to destroy it. I want to build something that respects it — a place of calm and renewal.”

I explained my idea: a spa where guests could truly slow down, take a deep breath, and reconnect with themselves. A place not just for a massage — but for a few hours of peace: sauna, steam, ice bath, pool, herbal tea… a space where relaxation lasts long after you leave. The owner smiled and said,
“I don’t care about money — I just want someone to take care of my Tree.”

That’s how Ton Mai Spa was born — named after the Thai word for “old tree,” in honor of the ancient tamarind that still stands at the heart of this place. 🌿

Every day, when you walk through our garden or sit under the shade of that Tree, you’re part of this story — a story of respect, nature, and the simple art of feeling well.
