Laparoscopy is a modern operative technique that allows us make surgeries without incision of the abdominal wall. Most of the gynecological operations that were previously performed by open access are now performed by the laparoscopic method.

The procedure is considered not only as a surgical treatment but often used to diagnose gynecological diseases.

The technique of laparoscopic surgery consists in forcing carbon dioxide into the abdominal cavity, after that doctor makes 3-4 small (5-10 mm) incisions on the abdomen at certain points, through which the camera and instruments are inserted. The operation can last from 20 minutes to 1.5-2 hours.

Laparoscopy is becoming more and more popular and successfully replaces open surgical operations because it has a number of advantages such as reduction of blood loss, risk of infection and traumaticity, the ability to examine organs more detailed, shorter postoperative recovery period, and almost complete absence of traces (scars).
