Does Creatine Cause Hair Loss?

Let’s discuss today If creatine and protein powder cause
hair loss or not…

As we all know creatine and protein powder are
commonly used by the ones who works out to build more
muscles…

To give a short answer to this question; No, creatine and
protein powder do not cause hair loss.

Theorically one can argue that buildıng muscles that way
can increase testosterone levels

and then high testesteron can be converted to DHT
(dihidrotestosteron) –which is known as a reason for hair
loss-and this may cause hair loss…

But we do not really see this negative effect in practise.

I wanna answer a question often asked to me:

Can I have hair transplant surgery doc?

First of all I need to say that these information are general
information and everybody is different so the final decision
can be made after a detailed consultation with your physician.

As a general answer anyone who is suitable for any kind of
surgery is also suitable for hair transplant surgery but
there are some absolute contrindications:

These are ones:

Medically unfit patients (like serious hearth conditions )

Or uncontrolled diabetic patients

The ones younger than 20 years old

Alopecia areata

Diffuse unpatterned alopecia

Some active inflammatory diseases.like lupus, lichen
planus,

Primary cicatricial alopecias and others

So:

Hair transplant can be performed for anybody

with a good donor area hair

in good general health

wiıth reasonable expactations..

Lets’ talk about what you should and you shouldn’t do before hair transplant surgery;
First of all, stop smoking 3 weeks before and after surgery.
Stop all herbal medicines 10 days before,
Using minoxidil 3 days before
and aspirin 7 days before the surgery.
You should stop drinking alcohol 2 days before the operation

and take a proper sleep night before the operation
Take a shower and good meal before you come to clinic.
Don’t wear tight clothing like t-shirts prefer comfortable clothing because the operation time can be long
and inform the doctor about any kind of allergy to drugs ,food or contact and medication during consultation.
daily medicines for hypertension diabet, epilepsy can be taken in the morning of the operation.

This is Doctor Taner Karahan. I am a Medical Doctor performing hair transplantation for 9 years. Today I want to talk about hair transplantation history.

To understand the hair transplantation, I think it is important to understand some history of baldness. Since old times hair has been the sign of health, youth and manhood.

In ancient Egypt, the pharaohs were never seen without a wig in public places.

Ceasar in Latin language means head of hair or long haired but ironically Julius Ceasar was partially bald and he was combing his hair from his back forward to cover that bald spot.

And Samson, which is a biblical supernatural hero, was believed to have that supernatural power because of his long hair.

In 18th century top hat became a way to cover the baldness. This persist today as baseball hat.

Since Eisonhover, there have been no bald USA presidents. Coincidence?

And late 50's Dr. Norman Orienterich defined the theory : 'Donor Deminence' . It was the main step for hair transplantation.

Simply according to that theory, If you harvest a hair follicule and If you implant to another place this follicule, this hair maintenance It is characteristics in his new place.

This was a big step hair in transplantation industry and hair transplantation was born.
