Arthroscopy of the hand and wrist

With wrist arthroscopy, all cartilage surfaces of the wrist bones, the ligaments between the bones and the position changes between the bones can be observed.

Sometimes pain, limitation of movement, abnormal sound and swelling persist for a long time after traumas. In the presence of these problems, arthroscopy is a very useful method for confirming the diagnosis after various examinations, determining and evaluating the damage, and deciding on the treatment option.

In the wrist, just like in the knee, there is a meniscus structure called TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage, or wrist meniscus), which is responsible for transferring the loads on the wrist to the forearm. This meniscus is crescent-shaped; it has no vascular structure to provide its own nutrition. Its blood supply is through absorption from the outside to the inside. Therefore, injuries occurring in areas with less blood supply on the inner side are difficult to heal. Wrist arthroscopy is the best treatment method for the diagnosis and treatment of these lesions.

The New Generation Robotic Surgery System provides significant advantages for the patient and surgeon in partial and total knee replacement surgeries performed by Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialists.
The system provides a safer operation by not allowing even a millimetric error in the operation, while providing a faster and painless recovery thanks to its features of protecting the full ligaments in the knee and minimizing tissue trauma.

Knee replacement with robotic surgery is an advanced technology that emerged as a result of the combination of advanced medical technology and advanced engineering science, allowing the orthopedic and traumatology specialist to determine the patient's anatomy and to apply the implants in the most appropriate and balanced way.

A socket made of metal and a lining made of polyethylene plastic, metal or ceramic is inserted into the area of the rounded hollow in the pelvis. The spherical head of the upper end of the femur is also replaced with a metal or ceramic prosthesis. The opposing sides of the joint are then replaced with artificial joint parts.

These parts can be attached to the prosthesis with a substance called bone cement or without bone cement, in which the bone adheres to the prosthesis. The choice is made by the orthopedic surgeon who will perform the operation, taking into account the characteristics of the patient. This artificial joint called total hip replacement provides painless, comfortable movement and walking.

The shoulder is the most flexible of the joints in your body. It has a structure that allows the arm to move in almost any direction. However, this flexibility can cause problems. Because of this, the shoulder is very prone to injury and damage.

If there is a problem in the shoulder, it can be solved with a surgical procedure called arthroscopy.

Bones form the basis of the shoulder joint. The bones are connected to each other in such a way that the arm can move freely.

Muscles, tendons and ligaments are soft tissue. These are what connect the shoulder bones to each other, keep them intact and give movement to the joint.

There are structures called tendons for bending and unbending our fingers. These tendons come from our elbow to the tip of our fingers through some tunnels. Trigger finger disease occurs as a result of compression of the tendon while passing through the tunnel in the first joint of the finger. With this disease, locking occurs in the person's finger. The person cannot straighten the bent finger and tries to straighten it with the other hand. However, he/she also has to cope with the pain.

Trigger finger is especially seen in people who use their finger a lot. Examples include people who use computers or do manual labor. On the other hand, it is more common in women and people over the age of 40. Diabetics are more at risk.

Why does it occur?

It is understood that muscle tears in the shoulder develop during the aging process. As we get older, sometimes a small tear may develop and become more severe over time or with trauma. Sports traumas and falls at a young age can also result in muscle tears in shoulder joint dislocations. This is not a tear caused by degenerative aging.

What are the Symptoms?

A muscle tear causes the patient to be painful, to have night pain and to be unable to lie on the shoulder. There is a painful arc of motion. Sometimes, if there is a full-thickness tear, movement can be completely lost. However, since 4 groups of muscles produce joint movement, the movement may be preserved.

How is it diagnosed?

Tears are diagnosed by ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with definitions such as small partial tears and large full-thickness tears.

To Compare the Diagnostic Consistency of Shoulder MRI and Shoulder US after Rotator Cuff Repair
Ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are widely used radiologic modalities to visualize the rotator sheath. In this study, we aimed to compare the diagnostic consistency of US and MRI in patients undergoing shoulder surgery for rotator sheath injury.

Hand surgery is a branch of surgery related to the part of our body that extends from the shoulder to the fingertip and is called the upper extremity. Many problems involving the upper extremity and requiring surgical treatment, especially the treatment of hand injuries due to trauma and various accidents, fall within the scope of hand surgery.

Microsurgery is a surgical technique applied by magnifying the surgical field using an operating microscope or auxiliary instruments called loops. In this way, it is possible to surgically treat problems in structures such as nerves and vessels that are normally difficult to see with the naked eye.

Minimally invasive surgical procedures have developed and become popular in recent years. Wrist arthroscopy has matured with these advances and has become a widely accepted technique. The complex anatomy of the wrist presents diagnostic challenges in cases of injury and chronic pain. Arthroscopic interventions allow for minimal surgical dissection and better visualization, which may lead to better classification of lesions and therefore better treatment, while postoperative pain is less and recovery time is shorter.

The shoulder is anatomically the most complex joint in the body with a very wide range of motion, poor joint contact, cartilage and tendon supports to support this poor contact and provide range of motion. This joint is subjected to high loads.
Over the age of 40, one of the most important causes of shoulder pain is rotator cuff tears.

The rotator cuff is a muscle-tendon structure that surrounds the head of the shoulder joint at the upper end of the humerus (upper arm bone). It holds the shoulder joint in place and allows the shoulder to rotate in and out.
Rotator cuff tear can occur in young people and athletes with a sudden movement injury, or it can develop over time with repetitive movements above the head level of the arm over time.

When You Feel Pain in Your Shoulder⚡

Over time, your shoulder joint can wear out and you may suffer from arthritis. Overuse of the
shoulder can exacerbate the problem. Or you may have a chronic condition that destroys the joint,
such as rheumatoid arthritis. If you had a bad fall, you may have torn or broken your shoulder.
Whatever the cause, this will cause stiffness and pain in your shoulder. You may not be able to use
your arm when you try to lie on your back or over your head. Your pain may be worse at night or
when you are doing something active or when it is cold or damp. If heat, rest and medication do not
help relieve your pain, your doctor may recommend prosthetic surgery.

Prosthetic surgery will help you⚡

Shoulder replacement surgery almost always relieves pain and gives your shoulder much more
strength and mobility. During the surgery, an orthopedic surgeon (a physician who specializes in
treating bone and muscle diseases) replaces the problem area with an artificial joint called a
prosthesis. With a prosthesis, soft metal and plastic parts will replace the worn and non-functioning
part of your shoulder.
