Originally established to bring attention to a condition often overlooked and misunderstood, World Vitiligo Day has grown into a global movement advocating not only for awareness, but also for the millions of people who experience bullying, social exclusion, psychological distress, and stigma because of vitiligo.

For many people, Michael Jackson was their first introduction to vitiligo. His highly visible journey brought worldwide attention to a condition that was often misunderstood, sparking conversations that continue decades later.

Not every mark left behind by acne is a scar. In many cases, especially in skin of color, these dark spots are post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) a form of discoloration that develops when inflammation triggers excess pigment production in the skin.

Unlike true acne scars, which involve permanent texture changes, PIH appears as flat dark marks that can take months to fade. Picking or squeezing acne lesions can worsen inflammation and make these marks darker and longer lasting.
