Following an incredible experience co-chairing an oral abstract session together with Prof. Sam Phiri at the INTEREST Conference , I’m leaving with a deep appreciation for the rigor, urgency, and collaboration driving HIV research that will sustain our gains in resource-limited settings.

Grateful to have been part of these important presentations and to contribute, in a small way, to a space helping shape the future of HIV treatment, prevention, and implementation science.

Excited and honored to be co-chairing an oral abstract presentation session at the 20th International Conference on HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis, and Prevention Research in Resource-Limited Settings ().

The conference continues to highlight the importance of advancing evidence-based, equitable, and community-centered approaches to the HIV response, particularly in settings where the burden remains high and resources are limited.

Looking forward to hearing from the incredible researchers, clinicians, and advocates shaping the future of HIV research and care.

A special moment at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting in Nairobi.

I’m reminded that I stand on the shoulders of giants — guided by mentors whose leadership continues to shape my path. Deeply grateful for Dr. Neema Rusibamayila Kimambo, Acting Rep in Kenya, whose work, integrity, and impact I have long admired.

It was truly wonderful reconnecting, and a proud moment to witness the continued influence she brings to strengthening health systems across our region.

I was honored to engage with a distinguished group of global and regional health leaders on the sidelines of the recently concluded Regional Meeting in Nairobi.

It was a privilege to connect with Dr. Amany Asfour President of the Medical Women’s International Association () and Dr. Jaqueline W. Kitulu President of the World Medical Association (WMA) — institutions that continue to play a critical role in shaping the global health agenda.

Bringing together voices from multilateral institutions, government, and professional associations, the exchange offered a valuable space to reflect on the evolving health landscape — and the partnerships required to respond effectively.

For , these moments sharpen our strategic focus, deepen our commitment to collaboration, and reinforce the role we must play in advancing a more responsive and equitable health architecture.

Grateful for the engagement — and for the shared commitment to moving from dialogue to action.

Grateful to have contributed to yesterday’s panel on quality of care for women, children, and adolescents at the Regional Meeting. Reflecting on our work in Tanzania, championed by the Ministry of Health and , the companionship study continues to show how small, intentional shifts can restore dignity and improve outcomes for pregnant women.

Insights from African Population and Health Research Center on strengthening data systems, alongside perspectives from Bayer on climate-related pressures on care delivery, and learnings from the Ministry of Health Kenya, reinforced the need for health systems that are both responsive and resilient.

This has been a timely reminder that improving quality of care requires aligning evidence, policy, and lived experience.

Excited to be in Nairobi this week for the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2026. I’ll be speaking on the quality of care for women, children, and adolescents, drawing experiences from Tanzania.

We often talk about “access,” but access without quality is a hollow promise.
Real care is defined by dignity, safety, and measurable outcomes.

These aren’t abstract concepts; they are the lived experiences of every person who walks into a health facility.

I’m especially proud to be here alongside my AAPH team. Seeing them step into these spaces, contribute their expertise and represent our shared commitment to stronger health systems across Africa is what makes moments like this truly meaningful.

These convenings are a sharpening stone. Our goal isn’t just alignment; it’s urgent implementation and accountability.
I look forward to the dialogue, exciting conversations ahead and a collective call to action for health improvement in our continent.
