Why do veterinarians prescribe this treatment?

Antibiotics in ear drops are typically used to treat a bacterial infection of the ear, also known as bacterial otitis externa. Topical preparations are available as single preparations or as combinations; commonly used drugs include neomycin, gentamicin, polymyxin B, enrofloxacin, and silver sulfadiazine. These drugs may also be combined with antifungal agents and/or corticosteroids.
