Why are AHA acids needed in cosmetics?

The abbreviation AHA can often be found on jars with a variety of cosmetics - from serums to toners. AHA or alpha hydroxy acids are natural fruit acids such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid. They are usually obtained from natural raw materials, however, artificially synthesized alpha-hydroxy acids are often used in cosmetics (this does not affect their quality).

AHA acids promote active renewal of skin cells and even out its color and relief. They can often be found in deep cleansing products: they literally dissolve dead particles of the upper layers of the epidermis and promote gentle but effective exfoliation without causing irritation.

Another beneficial property of fruit acids is the ability to fight age spots. AHA products are excellent for evening the complexion and giving it a healthy glow. Penetrating into the epidermis, alpha hydroxy acids trigger the regeneration of skin cells and can stimulate the production of its own collagen and hyaluronic acid.

By themselves, fruit acids are not very effective in slowing down aging, however, in combination with other substances - vitamin C, hyaluronic acid or antioxidants - it can have an anti-aging effect, stimulating the regeneration of skin cells.

AHA can be found in products for all skin types, although more often they are still used in the care of oily problem skin. They help to thoroughly cleanse the pores of excess sebum, prevent the development of acne and comedones, and relieve inflammation.
