The first film with the participation of Arnold after his return to the cinema was the action movie The Expendables 2 [22]. In April 2014, Schwarzenegger began filming the science fiction action movie Terminator Genisys, he again played the famous role of the T-800 Terminator. The film was directed by Alan Taylor. The film premiered in July 2015.

Schwarzenegger's subsequent films - "The End of the World", "6th Day" and "Indemnification" - were met by critics and viewers rather restrainedly. In 2003, the long-awaited sequel Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was released, after which the 56-year-old Arnold retired from the film industry. In the same year, he wins the election for governor of California, which makes it impossible to participate in any filming (not counting the film Around the World in 80 Days and Sylvester Stallone's 2010 film The Expendables). For example, the movie Terminator Salvation, released in 2009, uses a digital image of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He appears at the age at which he starred in the first "Terminator".

Critics say that Iron Arnie's acting skills leave much to be desired, and he avoids long, complex dialogue; comedian Robin Williams noted that "fewer words than Arnold Schwarzenegger, only the Scottish Collie Lassie said."
In an effort to get away from the image of a reinforced concrete killer who utters five or six phrases throughout the film, Arnold begins acting in comedy films. For some of them, including the very first one, "Twins" (1988), he does not ask for any fee at all, limiting himself to a percentage of sales.

Schwarzenegger's first acting work in cinema was the film Hercules in New York (1970). Arnold Schwarzenegger began acting in films in 1969, as did many of his idols, such as Reg Park and Steve Reeves. His problem initially was too much muscle mass, which looked unnatural for a movie, and a strong German accent, because of which he had to avoid long complex dialogues. For a number of films, Arnold had to significantly reduce weight. He takes acting lessons and tries to get rid of his accent. Predator director John McTiernan notes: “This guy is capable: I was told that it would take at least twenty takes to work with him, and they need three or four. He is a fast learner."

"I made great progress in the initial stages of my training, when I served in the Austrian army and had a lot of work to do. When we took part in maneuvers along the Czechoslovak border for six weeks, I had to drive a tank for fifteen hours a day, pump fuel with a hand pump, "fight" huge fuel barrels, and repair. Describing his service in the army, Arnold in his autobiography tells how eagerly he waited for the order of the officers to begin physical training, and the main result of the service is a significant increase in muscle mass.

As the future governor of California later said, he was able to find time and space for training, even during tactical exercises, when he lived in the field for several weeks. He equipped the bar with improvised materials and kept it in a tank:

A year later, Gustav Schwarzenegger died of a stroke, and Arnold did not appear at his funeral. As Arnold himself later said, “the system of raising children in Austria and Germany was very different from the American one, the main thing in it was to bring up discipline. In 1971, Arnold's brother Mainhard died in a car accident, at the time of the accident he was intoxicated. Arnold does not appear at the funeral. Mainhard was married to Erica Knapp and left a three-year-old son, Patrick.

The Schwarzenegger family was Catholic and attended church every Sunday. After the German Anschluss of Austria in 1938, Gustav Schwarzenegger joined the N**i Party of Austria and the SA. During the war he served in the military police (gendarmerie), where he received the rank of Hauptfeldfebel (senior sergeant).
After the war, he was allowed to work as a local police chief because there was no evidence that he had committed war crimes. The family lived in poverty, one of the most vivid memories of his youth Arnold calls the purchase of a refrigerator.
