The number of pardus in the entire area is steadily decreasing. The main threat to it is related to the change of natural habitats and the reduction of the fodder base. The trade in pardus skins, once a serious problem, has now receded into the background, and the main concern is the shooting of poached animals for oriental medicine.

The oldest fossils of the spotted panther belong to the Pliocene of southern, eastern and northern Africa. In addition to Africa, fossils have also been found in Europe, in the west, south and east of Asia (including the islands of Sumatra, Taiwan, Honshu)[10][11][12]. The results of phylogenetic studies indicate that the closest modern relatives of the spotted panther are the lion and the jaguar.

Обычно все пермские истории, где есть слово «зоопарк», связаны с бесконечным строительством объекта и животными, которые сейчас живут не в самых лучших условиях. К сожалению, не все обитатели зоопарка доживут до переезда.

Скончался единственный леопард — Линда. Ее привезли в Пермь еще в 2001 году, так как она не подходила для дрессировки. Раньше в зоопарке было три леопарда, но к 2015 году осталась только Линда.

Несколько лет назад у животного диагностировали рак. Удалить опухоль было невозможно из-за возраста. В зоопарке говорят, что в природе леопарды живут по 10-11 лет, в неволе — до 21 года. Линда умерла в 22 года.

A female leopard gives birth to 2 or 3 kittens, which she hides from other predators for the first 8 weeks. The maturation process takes approximately 2 years, during which the leopard cubs learn to hunt on their own, after which they leave the family.

The leopard is one of the big cats of Africa and ranks second in size in this company, second only to the lion. The leopard is also included in the "African Big Five" along with lions, elephants, rhinos and African buffalo. The habitat of leopards is very diverse: from impenetrable storm forests to semi-deserts.
