So excited to start this race! I flew out of Austin,Tx last night and got into Las Vegas about 9:30 last night. I enjoyed the company of some dear friends on the ride from the airport and finally got settled in to sleep by 11. One good indicator you're well hydrated is your body alarm goes off before your real alarm....or maybe it was just a little bit of excitement for a Revel race! Either way, I was up and getting ready at 3:10 to drive out to meet the busses by 4am. If you've never run a Revel race I highly recommend it. They treat everyone like an elite athlete! If you want to follow my race here's the link for real time tracking AND you can also send me messages of encouragement along the way! When you open the link there is an arrow on the top right side. Open that and you can find a participant by last name ( Egbert bib #195) and send me a message if you'd like. 🙂

On the bus now headed up to the top of the mountain. Looks like the temps up there are 37 degrees with some snow at the top - real feel 28 degrees with 4mph winds. Perfect to start out! My wave will start at 5:50am.

I'm so grateful for this opportunity that fell in my lap this week! Everything just fell into place with it! I found a round trip flight for $120 and looking forward to seeing some dear friends even if it is only for a very short time.
I haven't run anything over a 1/2 marathon distance since the end of July but I've been able to keep up my fitness levels through cross training. A much needed time trial & long run was done the last couple days to see what my leg turn over is and mostly receive a confirmation in my mind that a full marathon is possible with this body. My time trial ended up being a 10k @ 7:48 pace and I was able to keep 18 miles at a solid 8:46. Feeling pretty good about this marathon now on Nov. 14th!

After taking a week off and spending it with my family for Spring Break, I came back to run a 5k this morning. 7:40 pace and that's with slowing down a bit to run a few blocks with my 4 yr old along the way. Placed 2nd in my age group.
I'm not at my ideal race weight as I've put on a few pounds - or more like 10 😬 since moving a few months ago but as always it's a work in progress. Don't let your weight stop you from doing what you love! Get your nutrition on point and your body will respond. I'm ready to get my nutrition back on point a little better and my racing performance will improve! Who's with me?

This could not be any more true! I'm feeling that a little bit today as I'm trying to plan my week. I'm not feeling very motivated as I see what needs to be done this week. I know things will get done because I'm fairly disciplined but what kind of things do you do when you don't feel very motivated?
