I have always LOVED Dolly Parton and her loving personality and hospitality. She always had a beautiful smile that seemed to welcome you into her life. So when she was in the movie Steel Magnolias, it was natural for her role to be the in home salon owner that brought the community together to share in the good times and the sad times. My community had a similar in home salon that I used to visit with my grandmother. It was Lulabelle’s. When I was opening my salon I always wanted it to look like it was in Atlanta but feel like it was Dolly’s from Steel Magnolias. Every moment that it has had that feel is when different customers were all having fun conversations across the salon with multiple stylists, my heart would be filled with joy and I would feel my most accomplished self that I had created something close to what Dolly had in that movie. Even though the movie is fiction, I still feel like that’s how Dolly would’ve truly been as a hairstylist. She was one of a kind and the world just won’t be the same without her. Thank you Dolly, for being an inspiration to all women and a good steward of the gifts God gave to you.
