One of my favorite things about what we do at Southern Roots DPC is getting to be involved in the community we serve. ❤️
Today, that looked like trading the clinic for the kickball field! 🩺➡️🏃♀️
We had such a great time supporting the Kickin’ Out Childhood Cancer charity kickball event and helping raise awareness for such an important cause. 🎗️
One of the best parts was seeing so many familiar faces, catching up with old friends, and making some new ones along the way. ❤️
Small-town medicine is about so much more than what happens inside the exam room. It’s about showing up, supporting our neighbors, and being part of the community.
We’re grateful to call South Georgia home and thankful for days like today that remind us just how special our community really is.

⏰ 7–10 minutes.⏰
That’s often how much actual face-to-face time a physician may have with a patient in a busy, traditional fee-for-service practice.
Why?
It’s not because doctors don’t want to spend more time with their patients. Traditional healthcare is often built around volume. When a physician may need to see 20, 25, or even 30+ patients in a day, a 15–20 minute appointment slot can quickly turn into only a few minutes actually sitting with the doctor.
The rest of that time? Rooming, vitals, medication reconciliation, reviewing records, placing orders, documenting, answering messages, and moving on to the next patient.
🌿 Direct Primary Care changes the equation.
At Southern Roots DPC, our business model isn’t built around seeing as many patients as possible.
There’s no insurance company paying us based on how many visits we can squeeze into a day.
Instead, our patients pay a simple monthly membership that allows us to keep our patient panel smaller and give visits the time they actually need.
Sometimes that’s 15 minutes.
Sometimes it’s 30.
Sometimes it’s an hour or more.
Your appointment should be based on what you need—not how quickly we need to get to the next patient.

I may be a little biased, but Southern Roots wouldn’t be what it is without him. From caring for our patients to helping build this crazy dream of ours from the ground up, I couldn’t ask for a better partner — in medicine, in business, or in life. ❤️
Our patients know him as Dr. Alvarez, but I’m lucky enough to call him my husband and best friend.
