CURRENT LEAK ALERTS:
I have 34 separate accounts that have leak alerts at this time. I have been able to get in touch with 24 of them to advise them of the situation. That leaves 10 accounts that have a leak that I cannot reach them to tell them that they have a leak. Please make sure that you are updating your phone numbers when you change them or get a new one as we do not have the ability to contact you in a timely manner about emergencies if we do not have a phone number.
WANT TO BE ABLE TO TELL IF YOU HAVE A LEAK OR MONITOR YOUR USAGE IN YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS FROM YOUR PHONE OR COMPUTER???
Now you can!
With our new meters that were installed (which are finally complete... woohoo!), we have a service that is called Eye On Water (cheeky name) through Badger Meter that can be customized to set up leak alerts for your home or business!
Left the hose on?
Fighting with a teenager in the shower all the time?
On vacation and want to not worry about a leak at home?
Hear running water but think it's all in your head?
Now you can check on it!
It is an app that you can download to your device of choice, or you can sign up online to get access to your daily water usage! You can set leak alerts, show week to week, month to month, or day to day history of your water usage. You can even monitor your water down to the 15 minute intervals!
This will help you keep an eye on your water (pun intended) so that you control your water usage and can see when something isn't right or you have an emergency.
A FEW DISCLAIMERS:
1.) Only one account can be created per address! If you and another person want to view it, you need to set up one account and either have one person monitor it or share it. If you have a leak alert set up, it will go to an email as well as an app notification (if the app is downloaded and notifications turned on).
2.) This is not a live-read system. It will not show you up to the minute readings. The meter and the endpoint communicate every 15 minutes, then 4 times a day they send the information to the Eye On Water software.
I repeat, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE MINUTE BY MINUTE READINGS.
3.) A leak alert only happens when every 15 minute interval within 24 hours (96 separate check-ins from endpoint to meter per day) has showed consistent usage without shutting off.
For example: if your toilet fills and then shuts off for more than 15th minutes before it fills again, you will not receive a leak alert.
4.) This system is completely separate from the Small Utility Billing Software (SUBS) for your electronic billing. You will need to make an account with BOTH SEPARATE SYSTEMS to maximize your alerts (sigh).
As always, this in not a requirement, but we highly encourage everyone to sign up and to be able to see exactly what we are seeing and get alerts on your home or business before it becomes a larger problem. Time is money, especially when you have to pay to clean up water damage.
As always, if you have questions or need help setting up this system or the SUBS system, please contact City Hall at (573) 722-3156 between the hours of Monday-Friday, 7:30am- 4pm.
