I have a new favorite extraction tool!

These 6in bamboo cotton swabs have been such a wonderful option for effective extractions that don't cause excessive trauma to the skin.

The secret to extractions is all in the prep work. Preparing and soften the skin makes the process so much easier than just mashing, pushing, and squeezing.

I tend to prep with enzymes, lactic acid or glycolic acid depending on the condition of the clients skin.

Enzymes- Really any one could benefit from these. They eat up the dead skin cells like pac men leaving the living cells in tact.

Lactic Acid- This is for my dry clients. Lactic acid can exfoliate while also pulling in moisture.

Glycolic Acid- I use this for my normal to oily clients for skin prep. I do always buffer this ingredient with enzymes as the Botnia Glycolic can cause skin damage if not properly buffered.

Between skin prep and the new bamboo cotton swabs, extractions have been a breeze.

Continuing education is a vital part of being a successful esthetician. I have spent hours each week deepening my understanding of the skin and skincare ingredients to better serve my clients.
