Did you know we dip our own taper candles? Doug has taken on the roll of our main beeswax chandler, dipping usually 30 pair at a time. Made from 100% Ohio (& Pennsylvania when needed) beeswax, we always have one vat of natural yellow going and one that changes color with the seasons. Right now we are dipping black and will be changing her over to deep green for the holidays. Our standard 12” tapers, thin 12”, 4” chimes, birthday candles, and our Dissociation Candles all hand-dipped.

It’s strong, not overly sweet, and very unique with notes of dragon’s blood, leather, and a little note of candied sweetness without the butter-sweet scents of other fall candles. I promised it was coming and here it is: official date for our Autumn Release. We decided to skip the after hours party this year and open it up to regular store hours. Come have a cup of coffee or cider on us and shop our fall candles, soaps, bodycare, a new secondhand clothing drop, and more!

Coming SOON- I started using tallow in skincare for myself 13 years ago (way before MAHA cultists), when I was a meat cutter and and listened to the old cutters talked about how soft their hands were back before they had to wear gloves while handling meat and fat. We often had trim that would get tossed so I would take some home (although the best cleanest tallow is made strictly from suet fat near the kidneys), render it, and make a hand balm from it and cook with it. Knowing it was a waste product (I’m very much into the idea of using the whole animal if you’re an omnivore) was the best part for me. Also knowing the deep ties to ancestral Celtic roots…they used animal fat mixed with wood ash lye (potash) to make soap for cleaning.

Flash forward to 2020 and tallow soap was one of the first bars I made. It was rough and hard to cut and crumbled because I had no idea what I was doing. Now I’ve created the most luxurious variation with 100% grass fed US tallow that has been deodorized for cosmetic use using steam distillation, our soon to be released Tallow & Shea with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Completely unscented and made for those with sensitivities. We’ll be releasing these in a couple short weeks 🖤 -Jen at the Ash House
