This may not look like it, but this is one of the trickiest color corrections I’ve encountered!

When I first started this babe’s hair it was a month after she used Arctic Fox (red violet color) all over her hair. She figured “eh it’s quarantine, it’d be something fun for a few weeks”... welp not so much lol.

Here’s what happened...
When she applied it all over, it was over her natural regrowth and highlighted ends. It was very pretty for a few weeks!
However, when it started fading the blonde faded GREEN and the natural regrowth area was holding on red for dear life!

So we did every clarifying / color removing trick in the book, and it removed the green but that reddish root was here to stay. We decided to color melt it rosey/violet and call it a day.

Well this time around we wanted to give a shot at lifting through it again, I did a test strand and the base lifted PINK! Yes, her natural area was lifting but the reddish tone was holding on. It is so deep in her cuticle that it’s a part of it now. All from a Semi-Permanent color 😫.

So we thought it over and decided to just go for it, heavy highlight/balayage, and I would have to shadow and neutralize the color to blend all evenly. This meant 3 different formulas to create one seamless blend.

In the end it came out beautiful, but man was this a doozy.
Point of all of this, is sometimes we think we’re doing something harmless at home with these chemicals, including diy stuff, and you end up with a permanent & regretful result. Unfortunately this kind of stuff is unpredictable and it may work great one time and be a disaster the next, it’s really a roll of the dice. This is why entrusting your hair to a trained professional is important because we understand these things and how to prevent/avoid these situations. Now I don’t blame anyone for doing their own hair, especially during covid(lord knows I’ve definitely done mine!), but I want to emphasize there is a much larger risk then realized when you do so.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted talk 😜

After 7 months it was time to make this babe a blondie again ✨
