Root & Sea Yoga
Root & Sea Yoga is a sanctuary for everyone to return home to their body, breath, and voice. Yoga • Ritual • Somatics • Resilience
We offer accessible movement paired with somatic exploration for release, resilience, and renewal.
Copal smoke rising & moving in the summer air.
A resin I return to when I want to mark a threshold ~ something ancient, grounding, and quietly protective.
Sometimes I burn palo santo or sage. And sometimes I feel intuitively drawn to copal ~ its white smoke moving through the space like a gentle clearing.
Resting on my sweet sun-warmed holder, it felt like a small & simple offering to the season itself.
Remember ~ solstice doesn’t always need ceremony.
Sometimes it’s just a bit of attention.
Just breath.
Just smoke finding its way upward. 🌞
Aliveness in our senses.
What are you marking this season?

The Casablanca lilies bloomed.
My windows are always open - so, their fragrance filled the room and drew my attention back to something sitting quietly nearby: the first printed copy of Barefoot Rituals: Earth.
An imperfect first edition of an evolving series I’ve been quietly tending since last year.
There is something tender about holding a creative vision in your hands after months of unseen work. A reminder that not everything blooms quickly. Nature’s pace & rhythm. Some things ask for patience, trust, and a willingness to keep showing up before they unfold.
A small circle of people have already received the digital version, including those who attended my first Earth Ritual gathering this spring. The encouragement and reflections I’ve received have meant more than I can express.
This journal companion has become a foundational step toward a larger vision I’ve been carrying for some time ~ bringing Barefoot Rituals to life through community, practice, and eventually retreat experiences.
And now, with Earth finding its roots, I find myself being called toward to revisiting the next element: Water. 🌊
For today, I’m simply pausing to appreciate what has already bloomed. 🌸🤍
What have you been quietly tending lately?

lately I’ve been thinking about how we move through hard seasons
how easy it is to believe
this. is. it.
to stay connected to old stories
even when something in us is asking for change
that internal tug-of-war
there was a time in my life where things felt really heavy
where I felt stuck in patterns
mine and others
in emotions I didn’t know how to move through
and slowly, in the tiniest ways
I began to return to myself
through breath
through movement
learning how to care for my body
not all at once
just one small decision at a time
and somewhere along the way
something shifted
this season feels different
the burnout I’m moving through now
isn’t collapse
it’s a pause
for integration
a slowing down
so my body, my breath, my life
can catch up with all I’ve lived
and I’m learning that
pausing doesn’t mean something is wrong
resting doesn’t mean I’m falling behind
it means I’m listening
creating space for clarity
sometimes that need for pause
is invisible to others
sometimes it’s not understood
or even met
but I’m learning to honor it anyway
to care for myself
to trust what I feel
to gently let go of what no longer sees me clearly
my mornings can look simple
walking my youngest to daycare
soft good mornings to my boys
cool air, quiet streets
the sun moving through the trees
just noticing
breathing
being here
and realizing…
this is the life I’m in now
not perfect
whatever that is
but present
and deeply my own
I go to sleep grateful
and wake up the same way 🌿
pause
integration
clarity
connection

I’ve been feeling a bit of burnout lately…
not just from teaching
but from the pressure to show up a certain way
to be more polished
more structured
more like what’s already out there
and I’ve realized… that’s not actually how I want to share this work
I’m just over my first full year of teaching, building and growing a small business
balancing that with home life
and holding space for others outside of that
that part isn’t always easy - it’s not
I didn’t come into this by following a trend
I was on my own path of healing, years of that
and somewhere along the way, teaching found me
I never expected any of this
but something in me knew to keep walking this path
because it felt right in my heart
and I’m still learning to trust that
to let my voice be what it is
as I evolve
and to let my offerings evolve with me
what I keep coming back to
is simplicity
slowness
and space to just be in my body again
that’s where Barefoot Rituals and small midday reset rituals came from
not from trying to create something perfect
but from needing something real and to stay committed
maybe this is my voice as it is
still evolving, curiously
still soft, playful at times
still becoming, and unbecoming
and maybe that’s enough
if you’re also finding your way in your first years of teaching, beginning again
or learning to trust your own rhythm
you’re not alone in it 🌿

Midday Reset - lately I’ve been noticing how much more we move through our days
without ever really pausing
we rarely connect to that space of stillness anymore
even though just 20–30 minutes can shift everything
to breathe
to slow down
to feel your body again
this is different from a structured class or sequence
it’s a slower, more intuitive space to pause
more about listening to your body than following anything fixed, with optional gentle movement
inspired by somatic yoga, breath, and embodied awareness
I’ve been opening small midday reset spaces 🌿
a 30-minute pause to come back into yourself between the noise of the day
this is an introductory community offering as I begin sharing this work more regularly

Happy Earth Day 🤍🌎
I hosted my first Barefoot Ritual: Earth this weekend… it was small, but it felt really special to slow down together, reconnected to the earth.
I’ve realized my teaching style is simple and is less about explaining and more about creating space to feel, soften into your deepest strengths, and reconnect.
One of the lovely women shared this after: “Cherie created a deeply relaxing heart-opening, and community celebrating event. The gentle yoga was divine and helped me unravel my anxious body. The oil ritual awoke the senses. The inner work using her Barefoot Rituals journal…”

This. This is exactly why I’m doing this.
I’m opening a few weekly Midday Reset (30 min) sessions ~ simple, grounding, and accessible from anywhere (I’ll be guiding from the park, beach or rooftop 🌿).
