Losing weight is about more than the number on the scale—and supporting your skin, hair and muscle health should be part of the journey too.

Especially after 40 and during perimenopause and menopause, changes in collagen, skin elasticity, facial volume, muscle mass and hair may already be occurring.

Does Ozempic really cause “Ozempic face”?

Not exactly.

What we commonly call “Ozempic face” is largely related to the facial fat and volume loss that can accompany significant weight loss—whether that weight is lost with GLP-1 medications or without medication.

After 40, and particularly during perimenopause and menopause, we’re already experiencing changes in collagen, skin elasticity and facial support. Significant weight loss can make those changes more noticeable.

This is why I believe skin health should be part of the conversation from the beginning of a weight-loss journey—not just after facial volume loss has occurred.
