Ron Albertson spoke to the Albion Rotary Club today in his role as president of the Greater Albion Community Recreation and Events Inc. G-ACRE is a no-profit organization that has spearheaded many of the improvements at Bullard Park and also runs the annual Rock the Park Summer Music Festival.
Albertson said Bullard has become a jewel of Albion and Orleans County with a very popular spray park, amphitheater, new basketball and pickleball courts. He said the group is pushing for a new concession stand at Bullard, more pickleball courts, and then a focus on the smaller parks in the village.
He would like to see Albion become like Artpark in Lewiston, drawing thousands of people for bigger-name acts.
Albertson is a member of the Lions Club and he said that group helped kick off the improvements at Bullard more than a decade ago. He praised the work of John Grillo, the Albion recreation director, for running a popular summer youth recreation program and also leading the summer concert series at the park.
