It’s a start. Now where is the real action, a shift in the paradigm? Change is the one constant in life. Leadership, compassion and a call to unity isn’t coming from the status quo. They’re busy encouraging divisiveness in order to protect their own self-interests and wealth.

There will never be a return to “normal” in so many ways and that’s a good thing. C19 is a total reset, Ctrl-alt-delete.

I don’t know what the answers or solutions are. So I pray, meditate, read and cry. My heart breaks, so I stay home, I sew masks, I donate and make meals and grocery runs for friends, sign petitions, vote, complete the census, zoom and check on friends and family, watch far too much news and Netflix, cheer for SpaceX and rage for George Floyd and all the black and brown violence online and in my own brown/black/native family. I won’t even start on economic injustice, climate change and healthcare for all!

The 18 year old me would be out in the protest vigils, memories of striking with the farm workers and Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Back then we had visions of seceding and creating our own country Atzlan. So maybe it’s not about starting a new country; it will be creating a new vision for this country, Our country, where the status quo “Lizard People” are disempowered, economic equality is in place, healthcare is a basic right, so many basic human rights, no matter our color, gender, age or beliefs. Planet consciousness..

So here’s to the road ahead, evolutionary, often chaotic, new unifying grassroot leaders stepping up, challenging and inspiring. And we all take the initiative in our own communities. Maybe it is a new ATZLAN! It’s not a race or competition.
