New Bree, who dis?
Cliche? Maybe, but for me It couldn’t be more true. I feel as though every 4 years or so, the person I am, the version of Bree evolves into someone I never imagined I could be, which brings us here.
I always thought I would have to choose between either my love of science or my love of beauty.
14-year-old me used to find just as much happiness in creating a new smoky eye or buying a new lipstick shade, as dissecting a frog or creating chemical reactions (my fave to this day is the volcano experiment)
Today I don’t have to choose and that is sooo freeing! I get to work in science communication for a wellness/beauty brand that is all about pushing beyond conventional science.
I also get to continue my love of skincare & beauty here with you all. Educating, myth busting and trying all the things so you know what really works and what’s 💩
So much more in store for you guys, including consistency from me 🙂

Skingredient Spotlight: Phenyl T-Butylnitrone Acid
✨Find this post helpful? Follow, like & save please! ✨
💗Phenyl t- Butylnitrone (PBN), also known as Spin Trap is a fascinating and great skin antioxidant!
💗Free radicals are neutral atoms with unpaired electrons which makes them unstable, reactive and potentially damaging.
💗Spin trap works by stabilizing free radicals and trapping them before they react and cause damage.
💗Spin Traps are selective, only trapping reactive free radicals and not other molecules such as desired oxygen molecules.
💗”PBN and derivatives thereof have been reported for the treatment of a wide variety of disease conditions arising from or characterized by free radical-induced oxidative damage.”

Empties #1 🧴
Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
- I used it mostly in place of moisturizer at the end of a hydrating night routine. I didn’t feel like it exfoliated much but it did keep my skin hydrated over night. Not a product I will repurchase.
Glass Skin refining Serum
- I love how hydrating this serum is. It has niacinamide and hyaluronic acid which are great for more sensitive and reactive skin types. I would deff repurchase!
HA5 hydrator
- This hyaluronic acid also features a peptide complex and vitamin e which are anti-aging and soothing. Overall I prefer HA serums with a little bit of a thinner consistency. I didn’t LOVE this product but I did like it. It’s a silky thicker texture. I would not repurchase but since I got this with TNS serum for free (as a promo) I would still put it to use if I had it in my collection.
Vital C Hydrating facial oil
- This is my second bottle, and i LOVE this oil. It is a great lightweight everyday oil that gives your skin a glow. I love that it has vitamin C to boost antioxidant protection but I wouldn’t suggest as your ONLY vitamin C in your regimen. I would deff repurchase!

💗Ingredients can have many properties this list (the first of a series!) Defines some of the most common mechanisms of exfoliation an ingredient may have as well as skin nourishing properties/mechanisms an ingredient may provide!
💗As you can see, all exfoliants do not use the same mechanism of action. Salicylic acid, originally classified as a keratolytic has also been classified as a desmolytic rather than softening and shedding the skin cells its mechanism is now believed to disrupt cellular junctions, breaking down connective tissues in our skin.
💗Skin identical ingredients can range from Natural Moisturizing Factors such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid (the most popular) to Stratum Corneum lipids such as ceramides!

Find this post helpful? Like & Save so you never miss a new post!
🧪Niacinamide, is also known as nicotinamide or nicotinic acid, or Vitamin B3.
It is a powerhouse ingredient that is suitable for all skin types, and even more so those who are sensitized.
💗Niacinamide is:
-Antipruritic (anti-itchiness)
-Antimicrobial (stops bacteria growth)
-Vasoactive (in this case, reducing redness)
-Photo-protective (fights ROS damage)
-Sebostatic (oil production control)
💗Key benefits:
-Evens skin tone & brightens hyperpigmentation:
Interferes with the interaction between keratinocytes and melanocytes, thereby inhibiting melanogenesis
💗Improves condition of the epidermal barrier
Stabilizes epidermal barrier function, seen as a reduction in transepidermal water loss and an improvement in the moisture content of the stratum cornerum.
💗Increases protein synthesis (keratin)
Stimulates ceramide synthesis
Speeds up the differentiation of keratinocytes
💗Reduces fine lines and wrinkles, red blotchiness, skin sallowness, and improvemes in skin elasticity.
