Highlights bring in brightness, while lowlights add depth and contrast. When placed strategically, they work together to give the hair movement and dimension instead of leaving everything looking like one solid color.

And of course, Skelly decided she needed to supervise the process. 💀😂

As the temperatures drop, we're covering up more, which makes it the perfect time to work toward a more consistent hair removal schedule without worrying about a little regrowth between appointments.

Unlike shaving, which cuts hair at the surface, sugaring removes hair from the root. With consistent appointments, many clients notice softer regrowth and less noticeable hair over time.

And remember, you don't have to grow your hair out for months to get started! Around 1/4 inch of growth is typically enough, depending on the hair and area.

✂️ LET'S TALK ABOUT HAIRCUTS! ✂️

Did you know that getting regular trims doesn't actually make your hair grow faster?

Your hair grows from the follicle in your scalp, not from the ends. So why do we recommend keeping up with your haircuts?

Because there's a difference between growing your hair and retaining your length!

Here's what happens when you continuously skip those trims.

As your ends become dry, weathered, and damaged, they're more likely to split. Once a hair splits, that damage can travel farther up the strand, causing additional breakage.

That means your hair can be growing perfectly fine at the scalp while you're losing length from the ends.

And here's something else worth knowing: Split ends cannot be permanently repaired. Certain products can temporarily smooth their appearance, but once the hair is split, cutting off the damaged portion is the only way to remove it.

Now, does everyone need a haircut every 6 weeks? Absolutely not!

Someone maintaining a short, structured cut will need appointments more frequently than someone growing out long, healthy hair.

Your haircut schedule should depend on your hair's condition, texture, chemical history, daily styling habits, and personal goals.

At SugarLuxe, we're not interested in cutting off inches just because a certain number of weeks has passed. We're interested in helping you maintain healthy hair while working toward the length and style YOU want.

Skelly has a whole studio to explore, and something tells us she's just getting started! 🖤💀

That first little bit of cooler weather feels amazing, but your hair may have a different opinion.

As we move from summer into fall, the air starts becoming cooler and less humid. Lower humidity means there’s less moisture in the air for your hair to hold onto, which can leave it feeling drier, rougher, more staticky, or harder to manage.

You may also start noticing:
• Your ends feeling drier than usual
• More tangling or breakage
• Extra frizz or static
• Your scalp feeling dry, tight, or flaky
• Curls needing a little more moisture
• Blonde or chemically treated hair suddenly feeling more fragile

And then we turn the heat on inside our homes and businesses, which dries the air out even more. 🙃

This is the time of year to switch your hair care with the season.

Add moisture back in with a good conditioner or weekly mask, turn the temperature down on those steaming-hot showers, use your heat protectant, and don't skip those maintenance trims just because you're growing your hair out.

Your hair doesn't necessarily need more products in the fall. It may just need different care than it needed all summer. ☀️

Healthy hair is a year-round job, but the routine shouldn't always stay exactly the same.

Alright y’all, it’s that time of year again… 🤧

Our yearly sick season reminder:
If you’re sick, PLEASE reschedule your appointment.

We know it sucks to move an appointment you’ve been waiting for, but we promise we’d rather get you back on the books when everyone is healthy than have sickness make its way through the whole studio.

To clear any confusion: If you try to come in sick, you will be asked to leave and your appointment will be rescheduled for a difference day.

We have someone on our SugarLuxe team who is immune compromised, so this is something we have to take seriously. We also want to keep our entire staff and all of our clients as healthy as possible.

Here’s the other side of it that people may not always think about…

We don’t get paid sick days.

If we’re home sick, we’re not making money. Period. We only get paid when we’re actually at SugarLuxe taking care of our clients. So when someone comes in sick and one of us catches it, we may have to cancel days worth of appointments. That means no paycheck for those days, but unfortunately our bills don’t take sick days as pay.

We totally understand that nobody plans to get sick. We’re just asking you to please be considerate and stay home when you or someone in your household isn’t well.

Your hair can wait. Your sugaring can wait. We’ll get you rescheduled.

We love y’all, but we do NOT want your germs.

A new month has officially arrived at SugarLuxe, and the studio is dressed for it. 👻

October is one of our favorite months behind the chair 👏🏼 Richer brunettes, warmer blondes, dimensional reds, deeper tones, and all the little changes that make your hair feel like fall. 🍁

And if you’re keeping your current color? This is your reminder to get those maintenance appointments on the books before the holiday season sneaks up on us.
