Mele Kelikimaka - This is my bonus entry for the November Teardrop Soap Challenge. Since this entry is just for fun, I decided to submit my “blown-up” teardrops! 😬

Mele Kelikimaka means Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. I lived in Honolulu for 7 years before moving to L.A. Since none of the places I have lived has white Christmas, I always like looking at winter wonderland photos/designs/arts.

This attempt turned out looking like an ornament or borderline Mexican poncho. 😅 These soaps share the same frames as my other entry since I had enough leftover frames for this one.

The frames are consisting mostly extruded soap dough embeds. Theses Christmas themed extruder discs are from Lisa at I Dream in Soap.

This attempt was made in an acrylic mold, which leaked a bit while it was setting up. I noticed some minor stearic spots after trimming the soaps. I probably didn’t heat up the oils and butter long enough again!

Thank you Amy for revisiting this technique with a twist, but it completes the design. Thank you again to our sponsor for sponsoring this month's prizes.

Drops of Happiness - This is my competitive entry for the November Teardrop Soap Challenge. A frame around the 4 sides of the soap is required in the winner's category.

Thank you Amy for revisiting this technique. Thank you to our sponsor for sponsoring this month's prizes.

To me, it is very tricky to get a perfect teardrop shape, especially in a tall and skinny mold (see the 3rd photo on one of the attempts made in a T/S mold). I do not recommend using a acrylic mold at this technique, unless it comes with a silicone liner or can be sealed with a plastic wrap on the bottom. The soap batter is very thin that it always leaks through the acrylic mold. I ended up getting the best result in a soap mold that comes with a thick silicone liner. The downside of using a silicone liner is that I have to trim the soaps to get straight edges to be framed.

I wanted to add some soap dough embeds to the main soaps but worried that they might destroy the teardrops, so I chose a small round extruded disc to add snows around the teardrops to match my frames.

Since I wasn’t sure how the good the teardrop would turn out, I made the teardrop soap first and then apply the frames later. This way, I don’t waste any frames.

I would avoid using rice bran oil at this technique as it accelerates quickly, which is what happened to my first 2 attempts. After removing it and modify my receipt a bit, I had more time to work this technique.

I like the translucent look of the 100% extra virgin coconut soaps. 100% coconut oil makes very hard and long lasting soap bars and lathers great!

It’s got great cleansing properties but won’t dry your skin as it contains 20% super fat and tussah silk for the silky feels. Therefore, this is not a vegan soap.
