Here is a good teaching moment for you, but not so much for me.

Yesterday my finger got caught in my car door. The gel was still on and for a moment I was worried I might have broken it.

Fortunately, since I’m the nail tech, I was able to go back to the salon and I CAREFULLY used my efile to remove the gel so I could the damage underneath.

Luckily, it didn’t look like I would need to go to the
Dr and have a hole drilled into my nail to relieve anything that may have been trapped between my nail plate and nail bed. However, I won’t be surprised if I end up losing my nail as it starts to grow out.

Here is where the lesson comes in. I can not put anything over this nail until it has completely grown out. Especially if my nail plate starts to detach. Yes, I am most likely going to be walking around for months without a nail on my middle finger.

I don’t know what sort of damage could be going on under my nail plate. If I were to sculpt out a new nail, and accident hit it again on something, I could do some serious damage to my nail.

Please understand, it is for the clients health and safety, that any sort of damage like this needs to be left alone until it is completely healed.
