One thing I take seriously as a barrier-focused esthetician is paying attention to the small shifts in the skin.
This client’s barrier was improving beautifully, but I started noticing tiny uniform bumps, congestion, and signs that her skin was becoming a little too occluded for what it personally needed long-term.
That doesn’t mean the products were “bad.”It means skin is not one-size-fits-all.
Healthy skin coaching is knowing when to continue a routine… and knowing when to pivot.
So instead of pushing through irritation or congestion, I adjusted her routine by simplifying hydration, keeping barrier support in place with beta glucan, and switching her to the Corthe gel cleanser for a lighter, more balanced approach.

“Pores” are never just about pores.
When I look at skin like this, I’m looking at oil production, hydration levels, inflammation, skin barrier health, buildup inside the pores, how the skin is shedding, and even the products being used at home.
These results are from starting slow and working SMART — not aggressive.
Her first appointment was March 31st, and before jumping into heavy corrective treatments, we focused on building healthier skin first:
