Being single in a doubles world should not be this damn complicated.

I eat alone. I go to concerts alone. I travel alone. I do things by myself because I enjoy my own company, not because I’m waiting for somebody else to make my life happen.

So why is it sometimes harder to make a restaurant reservation for one? Why can buying one concert ticket become impossible because the system doesn’t want to leave a single seat?

OpenTable , people eat alone.
Ticketmaster , people go to concerts alone. This is bu****it and it makes people feel invisible. it’s discriminatory and should not even be an option on your platforms.

And you’re certainly not the only companies designing systems around the assumption that everybody arrives in pairs.

Single people aren’t an error message.

We’re customers. We spend money. We make reservations. We buy tickets. And sometimes we’d just like one damn seat.

Companies need to start looking at the customer experience through the eyes of people who live independently. Stop designing everything for couples and groups.

Story time and cold medicine.
We were told Cinderella lost the glass slipper.

But they don’t tell you the prince put tar on the stairs.

Funny how different a story sounds when we actually listen to the woman telling it.

I think about that behind the chair.

Women are constantly told what they should do with their hair.

Cover the gray. Go lighter. Keep it long. Cut it because of your age. Look younger.

But what do you actually want?

Great hair starts with listening. How do you want to feel? What fits your life? What are you tired of fighting with?

My job isn’t to give you someone else’s version of beautiful. It’s to listen closely enough to help you find your own.

Sometimes you just need to ask Cinderella what actually happened with that damn shoe. 👠

The little falsehoods we tell ourselves… and each other.

We all have them. Those tiny, socially acceptable lies that everybody knows are lies, but we’ve collectively agreed to keep the production running.

Mine?

“It’s just allergies.”

Friend.
It is August.
You are coughing. Your voice has dropped two octaves. You’re clutching a box of tissues like it’s a Birkin.

That is a head cold. 😂

And in the salon, I hear some classics:

“It’s basically my natural color.”
“I barely use heat.”
“I only trimmed it myself a little.”
“I haven’t used box color in forever.”

Meanwhile, your hair and I are having an entirely different conversation.

No judgment. Hair keeps receipts. I just need the truth so I can make a plan that actually works.
