You came into my life at Candace Reed Hair Design,
an assistant, a friend,
a woman who never rushed
because people mattered more than clocks.
Clients weren’t tasks to finish—
they were stories to hear.
And somehow, they knew it,
left smiling… and tipping well.

You surprised me once—
no, you stunned me—
when you said your dream
was to race cars.
I laughed, but now , it made perfect sense.
You had speed in your spirit,
a boldness hidden beneath kindness,
a fearless heart disguised as warmth.

You and Maryjane—
how do I measure what you gave?
You stepped deeper into my life
when my mother needed hands and patience,
and you gave both freely.
She loved you.
Deeply.
And I hope—no, I believe—
you knew that love came back to you
every time.

Today they told me your heart failed.
And I don’t understand
how a heart that generous,
that steady,
that full of laughter and care
could be the thing that gave out.
It feels unfair,
like the universe misread its own notes.

The world dimmed today.
Just a little—
but enough to feel it.
And yet, when I think of you,

Your laugh.
