While Ames is not an official overnight or pass-through host this year, thousands of RAGBRAI riders will be traveling from Boone to Marshalltown on Wednesday, July 22, passing right along the north side of Ames.

Riders will travel south on Highway 69 to Riverside Road, east to North Dayton Avenue, north to 190th Street, and east toward Nevada.

The route opens at 6 a.m. Riders are expected to be out of Gilbert by 1 p.m.

Highway 69, Riverside Road, and North Dayton Avenue are anticipated to fully reopen to normal traffic by 3 p.m.

Expect delays, plan ahead, and please keep an extra close eye out for cyclists on the roads throughout the day!

Two northbound lanes of Grand Avenue will close south of the 20th Street intersection, through just north of the intersection, beginning Tuesday, June 2, for replacement of a power pole by Ames Electric. The lanes are expected to open by end of day on Wednesday, June 3.

Traffic will be maintained in each direction using the two southbound lanes of Grand Avenue. Motorists should use caution in this area.

The outside lanes of Bloomington Road, from George Washington Carver Avenue to Stange Road, will close beginning Monday, June 1, weather permitting, for removal and replacement of pavement, curb, and a storm water structure. This is anticipated to take two to three weeks.
