Traditional haircolor formulas often rely on glycols derived from petroleum. These ingredients are commonly used as humectants, solvents, and carriers to help distribute ingredients throughout the formula and support moisture retention. While widely used throughout the beauty industry, petroleum-derived glycols come from a non-renewable resource and may vary in their sensory feel and irritation potential depending on the formulation.

We believed there was a better way. That's why we became the first haircolor company in the world to formulate with Zemea Propanediol, a 100% corn-derived, renewable alternative to petroleum-based glycols.
