We welcome SWEED to MODE today !!

Why I choose SWEED

Over the last year, I’ve been on a personal mission to find the perfect makeup line for our salon—one that focused on a “no-makeup makeup” look, or at least a more minimal, effortless approach to beauty.
As a makeup artist, I’ve spent years choosing products based on how they performed on other people—how they photographed, layered, and wore throughout long days and special events. This time was different. I searched as a consumer. I searched for what I wanted to wear every day: something beautiful, skin-friendly, modern, and realistic for women of all ages.
After trying what felt like every line on the market, I landed on SWEED.
What first drew me in was their philosophy of clean beauty with professional performance. What made me stay was how wearable, thoughtful, and skin-focused every product felt.
Along the way, I found things I loved about other brands. I admired the simplicity of Jones Road but found some formulas a little too oily for everyday wear. I enjoyed aspects of Typology, though some textures and scents weren’t my personal favorite. IT Cosmetics served me well for years, but I continually struggled with oxidation and color shifting throughout the day. I still love the AVEDA moisture tint with sunscreen but it has its time of day, and I may need a tad more coverage these days .
With SWEED, everything finally clicked.
I found foundations that offer beautiful coverage and longevity, along with a gorgeous serum-based “glass skin” foundation for those craving hydration and makeup that feels more like skincare. The cream blushes are creamy without feeling slippery, and the lip colors are soft, modern, and incredibly wearable.
SWEED is perhaps best known for its mascaras and lash serum. Their clean mascaras have developed a cult following, and for every mascara sold, the company helps rescue a sea turtle through its partnership with Billion Baby Turtles—a mission I absolutely love.
Most importantly, SWEED made me excited about makeup again.
Not heavy makeup. Not complicated makeup. Just healthy skin, soft color, a beautiful glow, and products that enhance who you already are.

What should you do to purchase SWEED?

Because my relationship with the brand is still growing, it’s important to me that purchases are made directly through the salon whenever possible. Your support helps me continue receiving advanced education, product training, and access to new launches so I can keep bringing the very best back to all of you.
As a thank you, while supplies last, every makeup purchase over $60 will receive a complimentary mascara.
If there’s something you’d like to order, simply reply to this email. I’m happy to personally prepare your order and leave it at the salon for convenient pickup.

What is in it for you ?

How will you know how to use this, SWEED?

I’m also excited to begin hosting quarterly beauty and wellness gatherings—think of them as a modern beauty circle. These evenings will include seasonal makeup updates, skincare and wellness conversations, guest experts, education, connection, and a few little luxuries along the way. While there will typically be a small ticket cost, anyone who purchases their makeup through me will receive complimentary admission as a thank you for their support.
My hope is that this becomes more than just makeup on a shelf. I want to build a beautiful community around feeling good, aging well, learning together, and sharing the things that genuinely work.
We are so excited to introduce SWEED to the salon and can’t wait for you to experience it with us.
With love,
April

Subject
The Joanna Shampoo, sad news.

Dear Clients and Friends,
There are certain experiences in life that cannot be rushed. Moments that ask us to slow down, breathe, and simply feel cared for. For so many of you, that moment lived at the shampoo bowl with Joanna.
It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of our beloved Joanna Gianolis.
Joanna had been quietly unwell for some time. Many of you did not know the extent of her illness because she chose, as she always did, to focus on others rather than herself. Even when she no longer had the strength to be present, her spirit remained very much a part of our daily rhythm here.
Joanna had been with me since 1997. Over nearly three decades, she became far more than a colleague — she became part of the fabric of this salon, part of our history, and part of so many of your personal routines. While she began her career as a stylist, she discovered that her true gift was in caring for people in a quieter, more intimate way. She found her calling at the shampoo bowl, where she transformed a simple service into something meaningful.
We would remind her to keep to five or seven minutes so the day could stay on schedule. Joanna, of course, never listened. If someone needed an extra massage, a calming conversation, or just a few more moments of peace, she gave it without hesitation. She believed that care could not be timed, and that human connection mattered more than efficiency.
She spoke often about her family, about memories of the salon through the years, about colleagues we have loved and lost. Many of my favorite conversations with her were spent reminiscing — laughing about old stories, remembering Mark Pizzelli and the disco ball that still hangs as a tribute, and reflecting on how many lives have passed through these doors.
Joanna also cared for our team in countless unseen ways. At the end of a long Saturday, when I would begin to clean up, she would always say, “Just go — let me do this.” She wanted to make life easier for me and everyone around her. And she did.
All I wished for, in these past months, was one more shampoo from Joanna — one more of those moments she created so effortlessly. A moment where you felt looked after, where the world quieted, and where kindness was expressed through her hands.
That was “The Joanna Shampoo.”And it was never just about washing hair.
It was about comfort. It was about presence. It was about being cared for.
She will be deeply missed by all of us, and we know many of you will feel this loss as well. We are so grateful to have shared her with you for so many years, and we will carry her spirit forward in the way we continue to care for every person who walks through our doors.
With love and remembrance,April and the Entire Salon Team

Turns out the secret to strengthening hair against breakage is repairing broken bonds. So, we developed a bond-building plant molecule to do just that. It did take three years of research, but the results - stronger, visibly healthy-looking hair - were worth it.
