Okay, not really, but kind of!

This guest came in wanting one row based on what she was used to wearing with another stylist, as well as being worried about hiding it when she wore it up.

I told her no. 🫣

Here was my issue: she was having too much shedding, which meant hair loss that was totally unnecessary. She also had a headache for a couple days after every move-up and was having trouble styling to blend her extensions in with her natural. Extensions should make your hair grow, feel weightless, and make styling easier day to day. Adjustments needed to be made!

I explained to her that distributing the weight amongst two rows and placing the rows in less fragile areas, she could solve her issues with hair shed, comfort, and styling! I also tweaked the color of her extensions so that, along with strategic placement, they would be totally hidden with any ponytail placement!

She was thrilled I said no to her initially! “I didn’t know extensions could feel like this!!” were her exact words.

This guest has the prettiest gray color naturally, and the lack of maintenance for her while embracing it has been so amazing! Our goals were to add length and a little bit of fullness (but still make it look like she actually grew it) and not have her have to come in all the time for touchups.

She came in for a consultation so we could get a good grasp on her goals and so I could see the nuances of her color. We were able to get her in for her application about a week and a half later, which gave me time to fully customize her hair before we installed it.

All in, her initial appointment was around $1000, which included her hair (which we can reuse for about a year), all the customization, shampoo, conditioner, oil, brush, installation appointment, and styling lesson.

Moving forward, she will come back in every 2-3 months for around an hour and a half to get everything moved up, the extension color refreshed, her natural hair deep conditioned, and her ends dusted for health. These appointments will be $300 with everything included.

*REALISTIC* Spring break reminders for my extension cuties 😎🥰

☀️ Avoid chlorine + saltwater IF YOU CAN… if you can’t, try wetting hair completely with fresh water before swimming and as soon as you can after… bonus points if you add conditioner both times too

☀️ Use mineral sunscreen to avoid discoloration IF YOU CAN… if you prefer a regular spray, try to use mineral just on your shoulders or wear your hair in a bun so it doesn’t rub on you!

☀️ Comb your hair before bed and upon waking every day IF YOU CAN… if the night got crazy just comb everything as soon as you wake up! We don’t want tangles over time, but one night here and there is not going to ruin anything!

☀️ HAVE FUN!! Your extensions are meant to enhance your life, not restrict it! When in doubt, just come in for a deep conditioning treatment or glaze when you get home 🥰

Let’s talk about flakes + build-up on your scalp 😅😵‍💫

Our scalp can’t regulate itself when the cold weather is so back and forth, and if you’re like me this has resulted in extra dry ends, scalp buildup, and even some flakiness. Here are a few tips to fight it:

1- shower upside down! The pressure from the shower head can pack down existing buildup instead of rinsing it away (which is why your scalp feels so much cleaner after a salon wash!). Focus on the crown of your hair so you don’t disrupt your extensions!

2- Use a clarifying shampoo or scalp scrub once per week. (Yes, that means every time if you only wash once a week!) I like to put this all over just my scalp first, rinse it away, and then shampoo and condition as normal.

3- Drink water!! Scalp is skin, and the skin is the last organ in your body to benefit from water intake. You can’t overdue this one!
