What "not FDA approved" really means, and the better question to ask.

FDA approval is a rigorous process worth respecting. A manufacturer funds clinical trials for a specific product and a specific use, submits them, and the FDA reviews them.

That process has to be paid for. When a therapy cannot be patented, or its market is small, often no one applies. No application means no approval. And no approval is not the same as no evidence.

Compounded medicines are made by licensed pharmacies under a different regulatory framework. Off-label prescribing is a legal, long-standing part of clinical practice across medicine.
