Long before Annapolis became known for its bustling waterfront, charming streets, and sailing culture, the Chesapeake Bay was shaped by generations of watermen, working boats, and the thriving oyster industry that helped define Maryland’s coastal communities.

This historic photograph of Annapolis City Dock Harbor by Aubrey Bodine shows the spirit of a waterfront built around the Bay: a place where boats, commerce, and tradition have always been deeply connected to the water.
