1. SET UP IN FRONT OF A WINDOW ☀️
If there’s a window available, TAKE IT! Natural light is always going to be superior and allows both you and your client to see exactly how the makeup will look in natural lighting.
2. ONE RING LIGHT PER MAKEUP ARTIST 💡
Bringing your own lighting is essential—you never know what a hotel or venue setup will look like! Using a ring light + natural window light helps you perfect the makeup in multiple lighting situations.
3. Makiaj Beauty Light ✉️ MBL CONTENT CREATOR BUNDLE
An absolute must for getting those crisp, high-quality photos + videos! I can attach my phone, add a light, adjust my angles, and easily transport it from wedding to wedding. In a pinch, I’ll even use the light mount without an additional ring light!

Yesterday, we spent the day getting Emily and her girls ready in the most beautiful sunroom, surrounded by all of her loved ones. Truly the sweetest setting for a wedding morning!🥹
For Emily’s wedding day makeup, we took everything we loved from her bridal preview and made a few subtle adjustments to bring her final look together:

To every bride who has trusted me with one of the biggest days of her life, thank you🙌 Through every early morning, every happy tear, every conversation in my chair, and every wedding day, you showed me there was something missing… a deeper way to care for the women I serve.
You didn’t just help me build a business.
You helped me find my calling✨
Next month, I’ll begin an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Not because I’m leaving beauty behind, but because I’m expanding what it means to care for my clients.
My dream has always been bigger than makeup. I want to combine beauty, medicine, aesthetics, and compassionate patient care so I can support women through every season of life, not just on their wedding day.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: it’s never too late to rewrite your story. It’s never too late to chase the dream that’s been quietly waiting on your heart. Growth rarely comes from comfort, and certainty is often the price of staying where you are.
We only get one life! I want to spend mine becoming the very best version of myself. For my future patients, for my brides, and for the purpose I know I’ve been called to.

For a long time, I was the only one standing in my own way.
I told myself I wasn’t smart enough. That I was too old to start over. That I had already built a successful career and business, so maybe I should just be grateful for what I had.
But deep down, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more waiting for me.
Owning Contoured by Katie for the past five years has been the greatest accomplishment of my life. But as this business grew, I grew too.
I’m not the same 22-year-old woman who started this journey, and somewhere along the way, I realized the part of my job that fulfilled me most wasn’t just helping women feel beautiful.
It was caring for them.
My brides trusted me with more than their wedding makeup. They trusted me with their questions, their insecurities, and some of the biggest decisions leading up to one of the most important days of their lives. Conversations about skincare, aesthetics, injectables, and wellness became just as meaningful to me as the makeup itself.
That’s when it clicked✨
What I loved most was never just makeup. It was caring for people. Building relationships. Educating. Earning trust. Helping women feel confident through every season of life.
Looking back, it feels less like I chose this path and more like it had been quietly calling me all along.
Next month, I’m beginning an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
Not because I’m leaving Contoured by Katie behind. It’s because I’m investing into its future.
The dream that once felt impossible and out of reach is finally becoming my reality.

Alexa reached out because she wanted to elevate her makeup skills for this upcoming football season on camera. During her one-on-one lesson, we focused on creating a look that not only looks beautiful in person, but also translates flawlessly on camera and in photos📸
