Hello families,
We had one of our families that received a pup from us about 18 months ago notify us this week that they have made the toughest decision and will no longer be able to have Benny at their home. Benny is a wonderful male dog that has been neutered, and is current on vaccinations. Benny has been exposed to the neighbors livestock and seems to be uninterested in them. He comes from a subdivision in Casper with 20 acre lots and has been exposed to lots of people as well as other dogs. Benny has shown some aggression to their smaller dogs both male and females and at times has been unprovoked. Benny loves his family of adults and children and is house broken. He is a protective boy and is usually slow to aggression. Because he had some aggression issues with their two smaller dogs he went to a training camp that was a 1 month program and after 24 hours he had aggressive issues with the handlers and nipped them but did not draw blood. This could have been due to the elevated stress of a new environment and strangers. Because of this, his owners removed him from the program a couple of days later not wanting to keep him in a stressful situation. With this family having young children and friends/ neighborhood children stopping by they didn't want to risk him nipping or biting unintentionally. I think given a more secluded environment where he can focus on a job protecting either livestock or a home with limited other dogs he would be great.
